Last week Baby and I were invited by Days Out to a bloggers event at Paradise Wildlife Park. Days Out was formed in 1995 and is now one of the most comprehensive websites in Britain focusing on attractions throughout the UK. The website features over 8,000 venues and 1,000 offers each year.
Paradise Wildlife Park is situated in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire and is the only Zoo in the UK to have all five big cats! The Zoo houses over 400 animals and was once branded Britain’s worst Zoo, until the current owners bought it in 1984 and transformed it into an award winning family attraction. Paradise Wildlife Park is also now the best venue for animal experiences in Europe.
Baby and I left home at 7.30 to start the, almost 100 mile, journey to Paradise (having both been up since 4.50am!). We love animals and Zoo’s, so we were excited to see what Paradise had to offer. On arrival we met with some lovely fellow bloggers, Katy, Lilinha, Katy and Nat. We were greeted by the Days Out and Paradise teams, then watched a couple of videos on the history on the park. It was so amazing to see how far the Zoo has come. Then we were taken on a guided tour round the park, by Emily (Paradise’s official Blogger) and some of the keepers.
Some of these pictures were taken by the Days out team and Emily who also has her own beauty blog.
We were treated to a handling demonstration by the tiger keeper, which was great. The children also had the opportunity to get up close and personal with a Snake and a lovely Skunk! Who knew Skunks were so cute!
We had some free time before the lunchtime show of the Karisma Kidz. That name might ring a bell if you have ever watched Dragons Den! When the music started Baby freaked out, as it was really loud. She was very curious though, but kept seeking cuddles from her new best friend Emily!
After the show we headed back for some lunch. By this time it became apparent that Baby was suffering with her teeth and the lack of sleep, so we headed home. Poor little mite slept for two and a half hours! (which is unheard of). The rest of the group were then free to go back into the park and explore to their hearts content. I am sure they had a fabulous time!
There is so much on offer at Paradise. As well as their amazing animal experience days, there are shadowing Zoo Keeper days, Photography days and you can even make a weekend of it and snoozzze at the zoo!
Disclosure: We were given free admittance to Paradise Wildlife Park & have also received a subscription to Days Out.
This has not affected my honesty when writing this post.
