A couple of months ago Pampers got in touch and asked if I would be interested in being part of their Baby Board. Pampers is such an established brand, that it was a pleasure to team up with them.
Over the next few months I will be sharing Pampers insights and news with you all. Giving you the inside track and the most up-to-date information.
The first initiative I want to share with you is the Pampers-Unicef partnership, which runs until the end of December. In this campaign Pampers and Unicef are working together to eradicate Maternal and Newborn Tetanus in the 19 countries across the world where it remains. I think it’s great that Pampers are so involved in helping babies across the world. In our country we don’t have to worry about the availability of vaccines. We might debate whether we should give them to our children, but they are in plentiful supply.
Maternal and Newborn Tetanus (MNT) is high in countries which have unhygienic birthing practices, usually the poorest ones. When a newborn contracts tetanus, heartbreakingly, there’s no real cure. In this day and age MNT takes the lives of 49,000 newborns each year. Startlingly the equivalent to one baby’s life every 11 minutes.
Through this amazing campaign over the past 11 years, Pampers parents have donated enough money to pay for enough vaccines to eradicate 50% of MNT. As amazing as this is, there’s still more work to be done. An estimated 67 million women and their newborns are still at risk from Maternal & Newborn Tetanus.
The best bit about this wonderful campaign is that we can all help.
How can you get involved?
- 1 pack = 1 life-saving vaccine: For each purchase of a Pampers® pack with the UNICEF logo Pampers will donate a vaccine.
- 1 share of your baby photo = 1 life-saving vaccine: For each share of photo of your baby shared, Pampers® will donate the equivalent cost of one vaccine.
So get behind this great campaign and help change the lives of women and children across the world.
