It’s surprising how much money you can save on day to day bills with a little thought and planning. We are terrible for wasting food at home, which with more forethought we could easily save from the bin. It’s the same with energy bills. Your gas and electricity could be costing you more than it needs to, but our busy lives can often lead us to overlook these costs.
I want to highlight Ofgem’s ‘Be an Energy Shopper’ site, which can really help you decide whether switching energy suppliers is right for you; with three dedicated sections to help you understand how to get the best deal on your energy bills. I know nothing about energy suppliers or how to switch and I found this site really helpful in putting the technical jargon in layman’s terms.
If you are interested in seeing how much money you could save by changing energy suppliers, then head to the Switching suppliers page. This page is packed with useful information, from links to all approved comparison sites, to a step by step guide on how to switch suppliers. There’s even a downloadable Comparison Notepad, which is so useful to have when you are looking at the comparison sites. It helps you to keep all your facts and figures organised, so you can easily find the best deal for you; it allows you to compare 5 other tariffs with your current one.
Another useful section of the page is the FAQ’s as this shares the most common questions people have had when going through (or thinking about) switching suppliers. As Ofgem is a free and impartial organisation you can be confident that the advice you receive is unbiased.
We changed electricity supplier last year and we wish we had thought about doing it earlier! Saving money on your energy bills is actually much easier than you think, especially with the Be An Energy Shopper site and think of all the fun family things you can spend the extra cash on.
