In the last year, since the start of weaning we have tried a few different highchairs. We have had our most recent one for quite a few months, but my major bugbear was that it didn’t fold down. Space is limited in our house, so this was a real pain. Recently, we were offered a Chicco Pocket Lunch Highchair from Babythingz and I was keen to try it out.
It was so simple to assemble, remove from the box, attach the non slip feet, seat cover/straps and you are good to go! It is easy to unfold and quite possible to do with one hand and foot, whilst holding a baby with the other. To collapse, slide the two release catches and it easily folds. You can actually leave the tray on when you fold it down, which makes things easier and quicker.
The chair is very stable with a wide footprint and when folded down it becomes a freestanding compact unit. This is fab for us, to save up valuable space. In its folded position it features a built in plastic handle on the top which makes it very easy to move around. Considering it is a decent sized highchair, it is so lightweight and even with my back problems, I don’t find it difficult to move at all.
The seat is spacious and comfortable with a waterproof cover, which easily slips over the chair. This makes cleaning it so easy, which is vital with Baby around, as she is so messy at meal times. It features a 5 point safety harness, which is fully adjustable. The harness can be attached at two different heights, so they will be comfortable as they grow.
There is a large mesh storage basket underneath the seat, great for storing all your feeding equipment. In our case it is usually filled with wet wipes, for quick clean ups!
The removable tray is of a really generous size, much more so than any of our previous highchairs. This is great for Baby as she likes to have tea parties while having her meals, and small trays can get a little full up! It has three positions, sliding further out as your baby grows and comes with a useful cup holder. The tray also features an integrated crotch post.
The backrest reclines to three different positions, allowing you to find the most comfortable position for your child. When we first put the chair up, it seemed that the backrest was a little too reclined on the most upright setting. When Baby is sitting in the chair she does seem a little slumped, but she really does adore the chair, so it can’t be bothering her and she must find it comfortable.
A lovely feature is that this chair has an integral footrest, which must add to the comfort and provide little legs some support. It also helps Baby to push herself back up, if she becomes too slumped.
Baby LOVES this chair, she actually asks to go in it and when we take her out she tries to climb back in herself.
This is a great chair and Baby is so happy in it, which is testament to its comfort. I think it is great value, even at the higher price.
