While I was at Britmums Live this year I got chatting to the lovely people at Parragon and signed up to be a Book Buddy. Book Buddies are sent a new book each month to read with their little one. We love reading to Baby and so it is a great way for us to read new books and also to share them with you.
Our September book was delayed and so we got two books in October.
Count to ten with a Mouse (Margaret Wise Brown)
This book would make a lovely gift, as it comes in a little gift set with a cuddly mouse.
Count to 10 with a Mouse is a rhyming book, that tells the story of a mouse who learns to count to ten, with the help of various objects and animals. The illustration is by Kirsten Richards and the mouse she has created is such a cute character. Baby is not quite at the age yet to get the most of of a rhyming book, but I am sure it will be a hit in a few months time.
This book has an RRP of £5.99 (although the version with the toy is not in stock at the time of publication).
Peek-a-Book (Malachy Doyle)
This is a large book with lovely artwork. The story follows a sleepy cat who wakes up and is chased by a dog. The story follows them jumping from page to page into lots of other stories, like Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the three bears. The book has some cut our sections, which nicely lead the characters from one page to another. With artwork by Rowan Martin it is a really beautiful book.
Baby loves to be read to. However, at 19 months old, she didn’t quite have enough patience to wait for me to finish the page before she wanted to move on. I am pleased though that this means we will have these lovely books for longer. She did enjoy pointing at the pictures and the bits of the story I managed to read to her!
The RRP is £5.99
We are already looking forward to see what next month brings!
Disclosure: We were sent these books in return for an honest review.
