Welcome to the Challenge Yourself monthly linky. You can find out more about the linky and why I decided to start it here.
My February aim was to learn to knit and hopefully knit a scarf by the end of February.
My mum is a fantastic knitter and sits clattering away watching TV, never once glancing at her hands. So I was hoping for some genetic knitting ability. Actually I am not that bad, as it turns out. I watched a video on You Tube on how to knit, got my lovely wool from a cheap shop for £2.99 per ball, dug out the needles mum sent to me and I was away. I really quite enjoy it. I am only knitting a scarf, so I am not following a pattern. I think if you are, it might be a little more stressful and less enjoyable, but for now it is quite therapeutic. I had hoped to finish my scarf by now, but I made it 60 stitches wide and had a poorly Baby this week, so this is as far as I have got. I think I will manage to finish it before the end of the month though. However, I challenged myself to learn a new skill and I have!
What have you achieved this month? This linky will stay open until midnight on 28th February for you to record all your February challenges. I will open March’s linky on 25th March (which again will be open for a week).
My March challenge will be to bake, ice and create Baby’s first birthday cake. I bake, but I have never iced with fondant or used any designs etc so I have a lot to learn. Here is what I hope to achieve;
Just remember your challenges could be as simple as drinking more water, walking everyday or keeping in touch with people. They need not be huge challenges, just something that will give you a sense of achievement when achieved. Remember to comment on others to provide a sense of support to everyone challenging themselves!
