Welcome back to ‘5 Things’. This week I thought I would share 5 Things; I Love About Motherhood.
- I am my daughter’s protector – We all need a protector in life and I feel blessed that I am this, for my beautiful little girl. I am the one she calls for; the one she looks for if she is scared and the one she runs to for cuddles. I am the person she wants to celebrate her achievements with. What a privileged place to be.
- It has cemented the importance of family to me – Being a mummy has pushed family to the forefront of my mind. In the past, I have been worried about missing out on time and experiences with friends. Since becoming a mum, it has driven home to me that my number one priority is spending time with my family and loved ones. Everything else is just window dressing.
- It has made me selfless – I find there is a strange sense of your own self not being important, yet being totally at ease with this feeling. I find it oddly freeing.
- You have the chance to be a child again – To experience the world through the eyes of your child is magical.
- I am part of the ‘club’ – When we were struggling to get pregnant, I would look at all mothers (and pregnant ladies) as if they were part of a special club. One which I had convinced myself I would never be part of. I was sure that I would never be pregnant, feel a baby move in my tummy, share that amazing bond with a child and be able to watch our child grow up. I am so grateful that I have been blessed with this opportunity.
What do you love most about being a parent?
