I really don’t drink enough water. I drink so much, but it is always tea, chai latte or fizzy diet drinks. My issue is that I really dislike the taste of water. I can end up feeling a little dehydrated as tea is a diuretic; my doctor told me that for every cup of tea you have you need 2 cups of water to replace the fluid PLUS your recommended daily 2 litres! Now that is a lot of water!
In winter we can steer towards hot, comforting drinks and cold drinks sometimes fall by the wayside. Robinsons commissioned a survey which found that 53% of people didn’t realise that you should be drinking as much in winter as you do in summer.
Do not fear, Robinsons are here to help us all drink more water with the help of their real fruit cordial drinks. They have produced a great recipe booklet with both hot and cold drink ideas and I had a go at a couple.
Mulled Apple and Blackcurrant
- Mix 200ml Robinsons Apple and Blackcurrant with 800ml water
- Warm in a pan with 4 black peppercorns, 4 cloves, 1/2 tsp ground allspice, 2 star anise.
- Simmer gently for 3 minutes, leave off the heat to infuse.
- Serve warm.
This one was so Christmassy and tasty, making the house smell of Christmas.
Sparkling Orange and Ginger
- Put some Robinsons orange into a tumbler.
- Add slices of orange and top up with sugar free ginger ale.
The verdict? They were both really tasty. The Mulled Blackcurrant and Apple is perfect for this time of year, so festive, and the ginger ale makes the orange cordial even more refreshing.
Baby also drinks cordial and water, Robinsons is the perfect choice as their bottles contain no added sugar. It gives her a little variety from plain water.
Has this inspired you to do more with your water? Do you drink the correct amount of water each day?
