There is something about summer picnics that is quintessentially British. We LOVE them, don’t we?! Whether it is a carpet picnic when it’s raining or basking in the sun surrounded by goodies, picnics are always such fun.
When thinking about tasty treats for your picnic anything goes, but picnic food needn’t be boring. No limp Quiche and dry old pork pie needn’t find its way to your picnic basket. The folks over at higgidy have put together The Little Picnic Guide, which is filled with recipes and tips to make sure your picnics go with a bang.
We put together a scrummy picnic and headed to one of our favourite spots, West Wittering beach.
We picked up some higgidy treats and for once our picnic was the envy of all around us.
I enjoy Quiche, but I much prefer homemade, which seem to be less mushy than the majority of shop bought ones. This is were higgidy Quiches surprised me, as they were just like mama used to make, only probably better! (but don’t tell her!).
Another of my dislikes is pre-packed pastry and I usually avoid it like the plague. Again, I was really surprised that I enjoyed the higgidy pastry, so yummy!

Baby made sure everyone kept hydrated!
We had such a lovely picnic, while we chatted and soaked up a little sun.
Before we found some time to play ball.
So why not make the most of the last few weeks of summer and plan your own higgidy picnic?
Disclosure: We were sent some higgidy vouchers.
