An Old Fashioned Sunday

When Baby was younger we used to go on lots of weekend day trips; a weekend wasn’t a success unless we had been off exploring a zoo or a beach.  Over the last few months our day trips have become less frequent.  We have all been busy, Baby has got the ponies to visit, Mr Hubby and I always have work to catch up with and we have had boring household things to do. That’s not to say we have done nothing but sit in the house, but we have been feeding ducks and visiting the park, rather than anything more exciting.

Last weekend, we decided to get back to normal and go out for the day.  Although our destination was quite close to home, it was a  Children’s play park/farm that we haven’t been to before.

Baby is currently obsessed with Blaze and the Monster Machines and so she obviously wanted to drive one of the cars. I wasn’t sure whether she would be able to do it;  she isn’t yet three and there is some seriously co-ordination involved in pressing pedals and steering round the course.  I needn’t have worried, after a couple of false starts and some tuition from the sidelines, she was off!  I was so proud watching her whizz round.

As I watched her flying down huge slides, getting well and truly stuck into everything, I did catch myself wondering where my baby went.  She is three in a just under a fortnight and I know it is a little cliche, but I honestly don’t know where the time has gone.

She was so pleased that she got to be Anna!  Bless her.

There was a great mix of outdoors fun and animals to see, which obviously Baby totally adores.  We were so lucky that at this time of year there were lots of babies to meet.

There weren’t many people around, so when we reached the petting barn the guy there said he would get out any animals Baby wanted.  We went for Rufus the VERY friendly rabbit.  Although she looks a little shell shocked, she was so pleased to have him on her knee.

Next up was a two day old chick. Baby was amazed with it and she would have loved to bring it home.

She loved meeting the ferret, but did say he was a bit smelly!

We needed to burn off some steam, so we headed out into the cold for some fun in the play park.

The slide in the boot was a definite favourite of the day.  It seems only the other week that I had to help her up the stairs on the slide for the first time.  Yet now she was flying up and down on her own, only pausing to shout to us from the top.

We found a fairy village on the edge of a lake and we crept around trying not to disturb the fairies, finding as many fairy doors as we could.

There was just time for a quick sit down and chat with some ducks, before it was time to head back home.

We had such a lovely day together and will be making sure we keep up with our days out from now on.
