Our Budding Photographer

I adore photography.  I could spend hours just scrolling Instagram; finding new people to follow, pouring over the stunning pictures and the glimpses into the lives of other people. I love feeling the emotion that comes through pictures and I hope that people feel the same from my pictures.

There have been times when I have felt a little bit sorry for Baby; the nature of my job means she is often is the subject of my photographs.  When she was a baby she was easy to photograph; then I remember trying to capture fleeting smiles. This developed into a short time when she was not enamoured with the camera, thankfully that didn’t last too long.  In those early days it could take ages to get the picture I needed.

A few months ago she started being more aware of the process, that she could look at the pictures after they were taken and she loves scrolling through my phone looking at her pictures, especially the pony ones.  She must have creative control over any picture I take and asks to see it, usually looking at it with such excitement and a big smile.

Maybe the curse of a blogger’s child, but she sees Mummy snapping away wherever we go and recently she has started to do the same.  She adores taking pictures with her little plastic camera (she has a cute proper kids camera waiting to be delivered by Santa, but don’t tell her!) everywhere we go.  She will even say ‘hang on, need to take picture’ and make us wait for her.  She even gets us to take pictures for her (with her camera).  I suppose it is karma for doing the same to her all her life.  She found a little video camera yesterday and filmed us all day.

It is wonderful that she is developing an understanding that photographs can capture our memories and I hope it is the start of a life long love for her.  It certainly makes mummy’s job easier, now that she will take direction!

I am linking up with the following fabulous bloggers and their lovely linkys.
