At the beginning of December I ran my annual Wrap Party challenge. During this challenge, as well as helping hundreds of bloggers set their 2020 goals, I set my own.
Now before we dig in, I want to clarify that goals aren’t resolutions. Resolutions are vague wishes and let’s be honest you will have probably forgotten about them a couple of weeks into the New Year.
Goals are a different kettle of fish. If you pick the right goals and break them down properly, they will help you move forward significantly in your business and life.
If you want to create a successful business, setting goals is vital. As bloggers/entrepreneurs there is always so much on our plate, we need to know where to focus our attention and efforts so we can move the needle.
So how do you create goals?! I always think of the big things I want to achieve in the year. These are my Outcome Goals. I usually pick 7-10, but have been known to chuck a couple more in there……
My outcome goals for 2020
- Rebrand The Mamapreneur Revolution blog
- Change design on You Baby Me Mummy blog

- Complete Law of Attraction course
- Write my 2nd book
- Publish the Blog planner for 2021
- Double digital product sales
- Increase affiliate income by 40%
- Complete 10 courses I’ve purchased and not completed!
I might add more into the mix, but for now these are my focus.
How do I make sure that I achieve these?
The next step is to allocate each of these goals to a quarter of the year. I will repeat some goals in each quarter, as I will have to work on them throughout the year.

How do I turn this into an action plan?
I will only focus on the first 90 days (Quarter one).
I write all my goals in Asana in boards.

In each card I use the sub tasks to breakdown the goals or the specific smaller milestones I need to complete to achieve the larger goal.
OUTCOME GOALS
Large annual goals.
PERFORMANCE GOALS
The smaller milestones which make up your outcome goals.
PROCESS GOALS
The individual tasks that go into each performance goal. These go on your todo list.
I keep track of my goals in Asana, but I need to move them somewhere else so I’m triggered to do the work required.
I use Google Calendar and I work in time blocks. I assess which tasks I need to work on in any week. Then I give each task a chunk of time. I start with 60 minute chunks of time, as this is a good amount of time to make progress with a task.

I also like physically ticking tasks off by hand, so I use a paper planner and add my tasks to each day. I go to Asana and look at the breakdown of each goal, then add these tasks to my paper planner.
Google Calendar keeps me on track with my time blocks. While Asana and my paper planner keep me focused on the right tasks within each block.
Have you got any goals for 2020? How do you set goals? Anything new here you can try?
