If you’ve ever tried to create a successful blog and not managed to reach the finish line, you are not alone. The truth is that a lot of people want to earn full time from their blog. Or have it be the platform to launch them headlong into new opportunities, but not a lot of people actually do it.
To put things into perspective, I recently saw a statistic that shocked me. Roughly 5% of people who start a blog, actually carry on and keep their blog live. I found another statistic that states that there are 173 million blogs worldwide! And while 2% of bloggers who spend less than 2 hours a day blogging and make more than $150K, only 17% are able to sustain their lifestyle or support their family with their blogs. 81% never make $100 from blogging!
Whew! Those are some scary numbers. But WHY is it like that? Why is it so hard to create a thriving business from your blog?
I’ve worked with hundreds of clients and pretty much all of them struggled with what I call shiny-object-mary-poppins-syndrome. This is something all bloggers tend to experience and it goes a little like this:
- You create a blog
- You start writing and enjoying it
- You try to appeal to everyone
- You squash your personality to try to appeal to as many people as possible
- Your pageviews stop growing
- You start doubting everything you’re doing and consider chucking in the towel
Seem familiar? This happens a lot, especially with mama bloggers. What can you do about it? I’ve got 5 things you can do right now if you want to grow your blog into a profitable business.
- Stop focusing on trying to appeal to everyone. It’s impossible and it’s keeping your blog small. Going for mass appeal doesn’t often create raving fans. It makes you forgettable.
- Embrace your unique abilities (you have got some believe me!) and show your personality. This is what will draw your ideal readers to you. Stop hiding your quirks incase they put people off. Lean into them and put them out there front and central.
- Speak to one person. Have one ideal reader and write your heart out to help that specific person with their biggest issues.
- Don’t follow the crowd. If you see your peers zigging, you think about how you can zag.
- Stop being distracted by everything and anything. Busy work will NOT create a successful blog. Being careful about where you spend your time and focusing specifically on tasks that will move the needle in your business will make the difference you want.
If you do those 5 things, you WILL start to build real traction. It’s a process I’ve taken many clients through and every single one of my clients end up with more money in the bank or been happier with their new destination (not all journeys are financially motivated). Sure, you can do this alone but if you are really serious about creating a thriving business, you can’t keep doing things you’ve done before.
Enter the Revolution Inner Circle. It’s my monthly membership community for people who want to create a fun, fulfilling and profitable business.
Let’s talk about Clare.
Clare always wanted to create a thriving business. Like many aspiring entrepreneurs before her, she had BIG ambitions. She tried many business that didn’t stick.
That big dream laid mostly dormant and in the back of her mind and she’d occasionally work on it.
She’d dip in and out, but without the focus she needed she couldn’t make decent headway.
Without the passion for the end goal, she couldn’t get there.
At the end of the day, Clare would feel super frustrated when other businesses were thriving and hers wasn’t.
This is the experience of many hopeful mama bloggers who get caught in the weeds, lacking focus and the support to make things happen. I’ve been talking about it quite a bit lately.
Here’s a quick reminder: Together we are stronger.
But HOW do you break this cycle? It’s all about being part of a community who get you. Who support you and will be cheering you on when you succeed.
Imagine if you could build your own empire.
Okay, back to Clare. We started working together around a year ago and now she has a thriving business focused around her true passion for the first time. Sure, she still growing and finding her way, but it’s the farthest she’s ever gotten and she is killing it.
This is the work I do with my clients. As your personal brand strategist and Fairy Blog Mother, I’ll help you break the cycle of spending hours on tasks that don’t impact your progress and help you create the success you desire and deserve!.
If you are so TIRED of being stuck we should work together.

This is only for people who are FED up with hustling for hustling sake and are READY to do the work and make the changes that need to be made to turn their blog into a business.Take a breath and check in. Are you ready to succeed? If so, click here. I want to talk to you.

I think you could have been writing about me and my blog here!
Since Christmas my traffic has dropped and I find myself thinking about packing it all in. But I have put so much work and effort into it I am determined to see it through.
I will try your suggestions and see how things go 🙂

I think this is just such a healthy way to look at blogging! My blog is about reaching one person and showing them that while special needs parenting isnt easy or the perfect life I had imagined, its so worth it!
I have always loved writing and blogging gave me the opportunity to do it. Even if no one else reads my silly ramblings!
