I have spoken before about the friendships I have made through blogging; about the wonderful people that have come into my life since I published that first post back in 2014. I genuinely never thought that friendships would turn out to be the best thing about blogging when I started. I have obviously had friends before, plenty of them; some better than others; some came and stayed, others came and went. Over the years a lot of my friends have been people I have met through having horses and when I stopped riding some of these friends fell away; they obviously weren’t meant to be. When I was younger I had some friends that I thought were good friends, but they were hard work and it always felt like I was the one making all the effort and all the allowances, which can be quite tiring. Friendship should be a joyful experience, not an exhausting one.
Which brings me to present day. I have a couple of fabulous ‘mummy’ friends, who I met since Baby was born, a few old stalwart friends and then you have my blogging beauties. I was thinking about what I would write for this week’s ordinary moments, and as I sat there thinking my Facebook messenger was flashing; a couple of different friends messaging me. This is such an ordinary thing to happen, a very typical every day occurrence. Then I realised two things, the first was how lucky I am to have these wonderful friends ‘on tap’ in such a way and secondly how ingrained these relationships are in my daily life.
Working on the internet and being friends with people who do exactly the same, is the factor which makes these relationships so special. As a whole the blogging community is such a supportive place, but I have such a close relationship with four bloggers and our communication is pretty constant; not something I have had before in friendships.

When I am burning the midnight oil writing posts, I know Amy will be doing the same. It seems a little odd, but knowing that makes me feel less alone. I know one little message is all it will take to reach her and we often chat in the early hours of the morning, both of us in the same boat. If I need to chat about anything, work related or personal, I know she will be there as my sounding board and will give me the best advice.

It is a similar story with Kate (although she is not as bonkers as Amy & I and she actually goes to bed), but nevertheless I know a chat message will be responded to as soon as humanly possible and we are always there for each other, chatting many times a day.

My examples could go on mentioning Hannah and Em the other special ladies in my life, but you get the picture. The point of this post was to say how blessed to have these fantastic relationships and the fact that such extraordinary friendships have become an ordinary moment in my life, means that I am truly blessed.

Thank you ladies.

Blogging has introduced me to some of the most wonderful friends – it can be hard at times but the benefits you take away from friendships are just fabulous xx
The amazing friendships were not what I thought blogging would bring me, but I’m glad it introduced us xx

Love you huni, I am so grateful we met xxx
We have recently moved to Scotland where I know the grand total of about 5 people who are not local to me and I met them through volunteering at the Commonwealth Games. But yet some of these friends have done more for me since we moved than some of my old school friends! How does that work??
Slowly I am feeling some of my close friends slip way and at first I was the one who always initiated the conversation first. That has now worn off and they rarely bother with me. It was my birthday last week and some of them just did the obligatory “happy birthday” post on facebook, not even a private message of text. Hey ho….
This makes it sound like I am billy no mates! I do have some very good ones and it’s great knowing they are there x
It’s lovely how blogging can bring friends into ur life.
I have a few blogging friends who I’ve not met but chat to all the time.
Most of my friends are Mummy friends which is lovely to have something in common to talk about.
That’s so lovely, there’s really nothing like great friends. I’ve met some fantastic people through blogging too (although I’m not sure any of them are up for chatting at 2am 🙂 ), which is such an unexpected bonus.
It’s so lovely – I think it’s amazing the relationships you can build over the internet. Blogging is amazing and there are so many wonderful and inspiring people.
Its amazing how you have gained such valuable friendships form blogging. It’s something I am beginning to realise as I progress and it’s a great feeling.
Ah such a lovely post, good friendships are so important especially as you get older. I am new to blogging so have not really got to know any bloggers yet but it must be nice to know other people who can relate to you.xx
Such a lovely lovely post Aby and I agree that making friends through blogging has been one of the best parts of it for me too. I have made a best friend through blogging, some very very close friends and then lots of other friends who are there for me as well. It is so lovely. It sounds like you have a great group of friends- and there isn’t much more special than that is there? Loved this post. xx
This is a lovely post. It’s good that you have people to talk to no matter what the time. I remember when Lucas was newborn and my friend had a 6 month old, we would message at silly o clock to check in and make sure we were both well x
I have to say, since starting blogging I definitely feel like i’ve gained more supportive friends! it’s great that you have a great bunch to lean on and I am definitely another who ends up staying up far too late :p
What a lovely tribute to some wonderful friends. I met some of my closest friends through social media too!
Aawww what a lovely post – I too have made some amazing friends through blogging, it is so great knowing there are others who ‘get’ what I do – and ‘get’ me too. Kaz x
I can’t even imagine a world without you in it. Love you huni xxxx
