Do you spend time you haven’t got scheduling tweets to promote your latest posts? Or maybe you can’t schedule any as you haven’t got the free time to input them all. I have used a few different tools over the last (almost) three years and I want to talk to you today about Social Oomph, which is by far the best scheduler I have used for Twitter. It has a feature that allows you to send recurring schedule updates, unlike most other schedulers.
You might think you don’t need to schedule tweets, but believe me by scheduling tweets to promote your content you WILL get more eyes on your posts which is what we all want isn’t it?! You may think that you don’t want to schedule, that you want to live tweet everything; if so I urge you to consider where your time is best spent. Engaging with people while your posts are tweeted out in the background would get my vote. Social media moves very fast especially Twitter, and I can guarantee if you aren’t promoting your work this way, others will be.
Social Oomph has some really great functionality and if I am honest can do far more than I use it for. I have been asked a lot recently about which scheduler I use for Twitter and so I thought I would share how Social Oomph helps me.
There are various different plans, from free to professional and the scheduler can be used on various platforms Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr and LinkedIn, to name a few. Not only does it allow you to schedule updates, it also helps you find quality people to follow and monitors the activity of you and your followers.
What can it do for you?
This depends on what option you choose, but if you are looking for just a Twitter scheduler, then Twitter Unlimited could be for you.
Twitter Unlimited
You don’t get access to any other social platforms on this plan, it is Twitter-centric.
Twitter Unlimited can:
- Schedule/Post – post and schedule content, send tweets via email, enable short URLs and purge DMs.
- Following – automatically follow people people (if that’s your thing).
- Monitoring – receive a summary email of tweets related to specific chosen keywords, monitor retweets, mentions and view statistics related to any short URLs you have shared.
- Multiple Accounts – you can add multiple Twitter profiles and manage them from a single dashboard.
Twitter Unlimited has the ability set up a a batch of tweets sent out from a queue that is continuously recycled. For example, you can set up one of your evergreen posts to be tweeted out every so many hours forever. Input it once and forget about it.
Professional
If you subscribe to Professional you will get all of the above plus;
- Analyse your competitors’ followers.
- Search to find people worth following.
- Automatically create Twitter lists.
- Weed out spammy followers.
Scheduling a tweet to continuously be tweeted every so many hours or days.
That brilliant evergreen post that should be tweeted out regularly now can be with zero invested time on your part. All you have to do is type the text, add an image (if you wish) and then set the start date and time, before simply leaving a ‘0’ in the ‘use this update X times’ section and it will be tweeted at the schedule you have set forever.
Vary your longstanding tweets.
Using variations of a tweet can make your feed look more engaging and interesting. It also helps you to catch the attention of different people with different variations. It makes your feed look less repetitive and can also prevent Twitter from stopping a tweet, which it thinks is spammy (Twitter will sometimes block the same tweet if it appears frequently and in succession).
Firstly, you need to set up a Queue Reservoir. Create new queue. Then go into picture and text update. And making sure you select your queue which will now appear in the window. You can do this a few times, maybe three, changing the wording each time. Then Social Oomph will rotate those variations of the same tweet, giving some variety.
Bulk loading Updates
Create a file of social media updates, which can then be imported into SocialOomph. As it is imported all of your web addresses will be shortened and you can then automatically add your updates to a queue reservoir.
How much does it cost?
As mentioned there are three different plans;
- Free – All new users are eligible for a 7 day free trial.
- Professional – $17.97 every two weeks.
- Unlimited – Add up to 5 twitter accounts, $6.97 every two weeks.
I love using Social Oomph and it has saved my hours of work; there is so much I have to still got to learn about this fab programme too.

Social Oomph sounds great. I use Buffer for mine and the couple of clients I look after- I schedule 3 times a day and choose an old post to promote- I actually find twitter one of my best forms of traffic still so it’s obviously doing alright. I just find it easy to use. xx
Social Oomph sounds really good. I use buffer and although I have been reluctant to use it I have seen that it has had great results and I need to get into the habit of using something like buffer to tweet new posts as I always forget! #thelist
Eep bad blogger confession, I don’t schedule any tweets and very rarely do I remember to tweet old content. I really need to start doing this so I’m going to look into social oomph as it sounds really good xx #TheList
I’ve not head of this platform before. I use Tweetdeck for scheduling – and have started to use it a lot more regularly and seen some benefits but it is quite time consuming. This sounds like a great way to keep on top of it all although you obviously do have to pay for it. Thanks for hosting #thelist
I’ve use a combination of Tweetdeck, Co-Schedule, the Evergreen tweet WordPress plugin and IFTT but Social Oomph sounds fab – can’t really justify the extra cost right now as what I’ve got going works for me, but definitely one to add to the back burner for later on – thanks for sharing Aby!
This does sound great. I’m not looking to spend anything more at the moment, but when the time comes I’ll definitely check this out!

Love the sound of social oomph, definitely a scheduling tool that I’ve heard about a bit over the last few months. I currently use buffer and quite like it having used hootsuite previously. The only thing that is stopping me from going downloading social oomph right now is the cost! Otherwise it sounds great 🙂 Emily #TheList
I currently use Hootsuite and it feels pretty labour intensive to me, having the option to schedule recurring Tweets is v attractive so might have to switch X

I tend to just tweet when I am online and the mood takes, I also RT things I loved reading or that i want to share with others. I know I should be more professional, but half the time the tech side of things goes over my head #TheList
I’ve been using social oomph for a couple of years, on your recommendation. I do like it, but twitter seems to block my scheduled tweets – other than the ones in queue – so I also use hootsuite.

Right, just signed up and giving it a go! I used Hootsuite, but couldn’t add pics to bulk update so cancelled in the end. I love Tweetdeck, but have to manually schedule each one so I spend so much time there. I hope Socialoomph will save me a stack of time!
