As weather has taken a chilly turn, you may be thinking about getting some winter sun. I’m so excited that we’re heading off for some sun of our own in October! Whoop!
We’re going to be guests of the 4 star Kalyves Beach Hotel in Chania. A beach-front hotel set on an award winning blue flag beach.
The Kalyves Beach Hotel is in the heart of the traditional Kalyves village in Chania, Crete. With traditional villages, archaeological sites and amazing shopping, we’ll have lots of exploring to do! The hotel offers a wide selection of excursions, such as hiking, exploring the picturesque villages of Crete, plus much more.
Staying closer to home, the hotel offers their own entertainment programme. Guest DJs, Magic shows, Greek dancing and belly dancing shows, karaoke. Plus a wide range of sporting activities.
If, like us, you’re travelling with kids, there are plenty of children’s activities. Pirate Day, Art Day or a Water Day at the sister hotel’s kids’ club. Add to this the hotel’s playground, the Mini Disco, Donkey Rides or swimming in the specially designed kids’ pool, there is plenty to keep the little ones occupied. Ava is so excited!
Personally, I’m looking forward to unwinding on the beach and swimming in the pool with Ava. She adores the water and it’s always so much fun.
There are two outdoor pools, an indoor pool as well as the beach, so we’ll be spoiled for choice!
You can also try out scuba diving, body training, Zumba, Pilates or aqua aerobics while you’re there too. Although that might be a bit too energetic for me!
I might be tempted, however, to hit up the mini-spa and try out the jacuzzi.
The hotel also offers a Kids’ Club with activities including face painting, treasure hunting and pool games.

I could totally do with being on a beach this October (they’ve only Ben back a week and I need a break from the school run already) and the kids would love a pirate themed day!
