So, you’ve filmed your great video, or recorded your vlog and now you need to find the perfect music.. Where do you look? It can be difficult to know where to look, as you not only need a piece of music which will fit your film, but you also need it to be royalty free. If you don’t want to be shelling out for copyright fines, that is.
I am sharing ten places you can check out for the perfect sound effects, instrumentals and royal free tracks. You know, just to make your life easier.

YouTube Audio Library
The first place I would always check out is the YouTube’s own library. There’s a mix of tracks, some ask you to attribute the artist in your video description, while others don’t. You can also filter them by genre, length, style etc.
Free Music Archive
This site lets you filter royalty free music by genre and top charts. You can easily preview music and download songs instantly without needing an account.
Bensound
I love Bensound, as all of the tracks included are under creative commons attribution licenses. This means you are free to download and use as long as you credit bensound.com in your video description. You can sort by genre.
Sound Gator
Soundcloud
Some artists on SoundCloud let you use their tracks if you give them credit and link to their page on Soundcloud. You can also search under Creative Commons and use/credit.
Sounds Crate
You can create a free account and then download up to 5 tracks each day.
Looperman
You will find loops, sounds and tracks on Looperman. There’s a wide range of different genres to search by too
Pond5
Pond5 covers stock video, images and royalty free music. Simply select Public Domain music and away you go and add to cart, it will show up as $0.
Audiosocket
O.k, so this one is not free. However, I wanted to share it anyway as you can purchase 5 tracks licensed for monetised YouTube blogs for just $21, which is you find great tracks it is good value. Remember it’s a business expense too!
Where do you get your music from? Any there any new ones from this bunch for you to check out?

Hi Aby
Thanks for these – I’ve yet to enter the world of vlogging, but feel maybe I should with my telly background…! Will store this for future ref. Ta!
Hope to see you tomorrow at Blogfest.

Great list. I’ve just used Youtube ones at the moment, because I ended up on so many different sites when I was looking and wasted so much time listening to tracks and then trying to download them. In the end it was just quicker and easier to use the youtube ones. But might bookmark some of these for more unusual music.
This is so helpful, thank you Aby! I’m still in the sort-of thinking about starting to create videos stage, but this sort of post is really useful for my planning! x #TheList
This is a really useful post! Thank you!
What a great list! This is so helpful, especially to a relatively new blogger such as myself! Thanks for sharing. #The List
oh great this will be super helpful! #ThelIst
I don’t vlog at the moment but edit lots of video and use music with all of them. I have used some of these sites before but not all. Great resource x #TheList
Really useful, thanks. I started my You Tube channel but didn’t get past the first vid as it just takes so much prep. I actually bought a video editing suite though so should probably get on it! Thanks 🙂
These are really great sites! I don’t vlog at the moment but am working my way up to doing it! Fingers crossed – so I’ve bookmarked this site for great future reference.
Whoops forgot – #thelistlinky
A fantastic resource as always, I have been meaning to create a bit of an intro to our vlogs and was wondering where you find royalty free music so this is great! Its just a fade out picture at the moment which doesn’t look very professional..though saying that neither does Leo falling off his chair half way through a video!I swear I have bookmarked so many of your pages you have taken over my computer lol. Thanks lovely #Thelistlinky
Oh thank you for this! I’ve been searching the web and couldn’t find any. Probably because I was keying the wrong word! 🙂
Thanks for these! I have quite a good selection on the editing software I use but it’s useful to know there’s more! #thelistlinky

Thanks Aby for the list. Just wanted to mention another great royalty free music website – NeoSounds.com – Not free, however they offer professionally produced, high quality music and affordable pricing.
Great tips thank you, my iMovies are all sounding a bit the same so this is great!
I’m a composer, make music for commercial videos. Some good answers here already. I’ll just throw one more in the mix.
Recently, I started writing for this new site that offers unlimited royalty free music download for members. That is, you pay the annual fee and get access to their entire catalog. Download as many tracks as you need.
This can be a good alternative if you produce lots of videos and need music on the regular basis. Check it out: https://www.tunepocket.com
They are very much new, so not too much music now but new tracks are added daily.
Hope that helps.
I vote for TunePocket here. It’s not free but it’s quite affordable and worth it (it saves me lots of headaches hunting down the music I need and making sure I can actually use). They do add new music often. Their catalog grew from 500 to over 2000 songs last year.
Here there is a choice of different styles of royalty free music. http://audioluck.com
Love the artical and comments… so much info !!!
i have been using this website for my royalty free needs – http://www.paramusical.com (link is external)
other thier catalog they also have a free section that is easy to use and all they ask for is credit and a link to thier website..
the free section address is – http://www.paramusical.com/free (link is external)
hope it helps 🙂
Some new ones for me. My team has tried a ton of sites over the years Bensound has been there 🙂 Also Premiumbeat.com and a new one https://pyramidtracks.com making waves in Sweden.
Big up!
