First Timers Camp Bestival Plan

In just over two weeks were are heading to Camp Bestival!  We are so excited, as it will our first family festival.  A few months ago we announced that Camp Bestival Goes Wild, the theme for this year’s festival being wild.  Think Mad Max, birds of prey and all things feral and you won’t go far wrong.

Then we shared our appointment as official Camp Bestival Bloggers and our top ten must see things.  We are starting to make more of a plan, although we want to go with the flow and see what happens, there is so much to do and we don’t want to miss certain things.  I love a plan and a list so here is our First Timers Plan for Camp Bestival.

Music

There are a few bands we would like to see, but we plan to check out some others too as finding new music is great.  On our list of must-see’s are Black Water County, Kaiser Chiefs, Underworld, Ella Henderson, with the addition of a couple of bands we have watched on You Tube, Gypsies of Bohemia and Bohicas.

Activities

My head almost explodes when I look at the list of activities, I literally can’t take it all in.  I have highlighted some things that I think would be awesome, but I think we will find much more.  The Marawa’s Majorettes look incredible, as do the Wild Warriors of Cosak.  As I mentioned in my previous post we would love to see the Cat in the Hat and Mr Tumble is a given!  Baby loves dancing so we will head to Nutty’s Disco and also the Big Fish Little Fish, family rave crew sounds perfect for her.  Bigtopmania’s Kids Circus will be a hit I’m sure, as will the Fairy Garden in Dingly Dell.  On a recent holiday Baby had her first experience of Fairground rides and she really enjoyed herself, so I am sure she will be making use of the rides here.

Food

I have been told that the food at the festival is great.  There is lots of choice and so we had a look at some of the great places we would like to sample food from.  Anna Maes Mac n Cheese is apparently the best you will taste, so I would like to put it to the test!  Mr Hubby will make a beeline for Bangwok and he also likes the sound of Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bakey.  The Magnificent Milkshake Company certainly gets my vote, as does the Jiggery Pokery Parlour and the Hang Fire Smokehouse is sure to tempt us too.

Films

Camp Bestival also has film screenings in one of the tents, which I think would be a great way to start the day, on our list to see would be Creature Comforts (more for Mr Hubby) and Madagascar, which Baby will love.

Some tips picked up from others

• Take ponchos.
• Freeze milk, so it lasts longer (also great advice for Baby’s milk as she still has a couple of bottles).
• Fairy lights round tent and a flag to make it easier to find.
• Hire/buy a wagon, to help you get stuff to your pitch, but also to give Baby somewhere to sit/crash.
• Layers for the evening.
• Take own beer.
• Take loo roll and hand sanitiser.
• Get there early on Thursday to secure a good pitch.  We have our equipment ready sent to us by Cotswold Outdoor.
