What matters most to you at Christmas? #WhatMattersMost

It’s now only a few weeks until Christmas and the festiveness has started creeping into our daily lives. The decorations going up and the shops filling up with presents to tempt us all. The kids have probably long since written their lists to Santa and are working on making sure they end up on the nice list… I have lost track of the number of times I have used ‘don’t forget the elves are watching’. I will be quite sad when it’s January and I haven’t got the elves in my corner.

I adore Christmas and get so excited at the prospect spending time with my family. I love the traditions associated with the festive season and we start our own family traditions on the 1st December, when we also break out our Christmas jumpers. I have a couple of new ones for this year.

For about 18 years I have lived over 250 miles away from my family and so for me Christmas is the one time a year when we get together. I really look forward to spending time with them, it always feels so much more special at Christmas too. The festivities can definitely officially start when my sister-in-law arrives.

My love of Christmas has only grown since having a daughter and this year will be our third as parents. Each year has been special, I think now Ava is three this will be the best one so far.

Holiday Inn Express are celebrating the wonder of family at Christmas in their “What Matters Most” campaign. Lots of people stay at Holiday Inn Express’ over the Christmas period when they visit family. However, this is not possible for everyone. If families are separated by living in different countries, then Christmas might not be the family celebration they hoped for. This year Holiday Inn Express has surprised three families with visits from their loved ones, who they didn’t think they would see this Christmas.

They ran a competition on their Holiday Inn Express social media to find families who would be separated from their family this Christmas. From the entries three winners were chosen. The families were reunited at the Holiday Inn Express Ealing in  November. The reunion moments were captured on film and used to create a video of the event.

If you want to join in with this fabulous campaign, you can join the Twitter party happening today at 12pm.

What do you love most about Christmas? Will you be joining the Twitter party?
