As I sit here and write these words, I can barely believe that you, my little baby, turned one yesterday. Twelve months have passed since you came into our lives and changed them forever. I had such a strong desire to be a mum, months passed and my heart broke every time my wish wasn’t granted. Time and time again, I was crushed, then one summer day my prayers were answered and I found out I was expecting you. I was unbelievably happy, but terrified something was going to go wrong, right up until I held you in my arms.
The last year has seen so many changes, you are the centre of our lives and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I am so proud of you, of all your achievements so far, of your amazing personality, your smile that captivates even strangers. You are brave, bold, funny, loveable, beautiful. You are more than I imagined you could be.
You are now a proper little girl, gone are the baby days. You are rarely still, you have such a strong desire to be moving and investigating everything around you. You love nothing more than standing up, cruising round the furniture or bouncing. You laugh with such glee when we bounce you on the bed. I am honoured to spend my days with you and miss you when you go to bed at night.
I now know what a mother’s love feels like and I would lay down my life for you in a heartbeat, my precious daughter.
