She may have only just turned 6 years old, but Ava is growing up FAST! While she has always been keen on active play, football, climbing trees and generally getting filthy. She balances this with a love of make-up, jewellery, perfume and all the girly trappings you can imagine. She adores sitting at my dressing table pretending to use my make-up while I dry her hair.
BritMums recently asked if Ava would like to review the new IAMGIRLY product; the I’M A STYLIST styling head and I knew she would love it. We don’t tend to do many reviews over here, but I pictured her face opening the box and agreed immediately.
The I’M A GIRLY luxury doll brand originally started in Switzerland and their popular hip, cheeky and trendy Fashion-Dolls, that bridge childhood and teenage years landed in Harrods and Hamleys last year. The I’M A STYLIST Styling Heads are now available in store too.
Aimed at kids aged 3–15, the styling head is 33-cm tall. You can tell the quality before you even get it out of the box! The box and brand design in general gives a high-end feel and the product inside doesn’t disappoint either.
Each beautiful styling head comes with magnetic eyelashes, earrings, hair accessories, self-adhesive gemstones for the face and an additional wig. The signature I’M A GIRLY interchangeable wigs give kids the freedom to experiment with different shades, styles and looks. They can even cut the hair!
Ava has a another styling head and the I’M A STYLIST head is bigger and has a nice and broad face which made it easier for her to decorate it with the face gems.
Our I’M A STYLIST styling head was Lucy and she comes with a removable and washable top. So handy for the younger ones who are likely to get messy!
There are suction cups underneath making it really stable for the kids.
A wig holder is included, which is simple to assemble, and handy to keep the wig knot free. The brand’s NO WASTE policy, means the packaging can be re-used as a wardrobe for storing the fashion dolls or accessories.
The styling heads are wonderful as they look like real children with realistic proportions, not skinny models. I believe this is an example more brands should be setting. There are also a wide range of skin tones to pick from promoting inclusivity and diversity.
Ava loves the Styling head, she spends ages brushing her hair and creating quite spectacular hairstyles!
While it’s not a budget toy, it’s so well made that I can imagine Ava passing it down to her children when the time comes. It’s a great product and I would recommend it if you’re looking for a styling head for your kids.

I can’t get over how grown up Ava is looking. It also looks like she has had a great time playing with the styling head. The hair alone is pretty impressive
I love that there is a range of skin colours for the styling heads.. I think that is important for children like my daughter who is mixed race.
The two tone wig is how I want my hair!. I love this toy, I may have had a play when Eliza was at school *cough*

These heads are so great for practising on, aren’t they? I am going to learn how to do fishtail plaits on our Lucy. Beautiful blonde wig, by the way, I could wear that one myself!
These look fantastic, will look for Josie’s birthday as she loves playing with hair. She loved the blonde ombre wig and when looked on the site the blue one. They look great fun, I may have to play too being an ex-hairdresser LOL!
