For a few weeks now Baby has been standing up if she has something to hold onto. Although she has been fairly reluctant to try pulling herself up or do much cruising. Well, as of last Sunday morning about 4am, that all changed. I was doing her nappy and she pulled herself up on my dressing gown and hasn’t stopped since! Anything she can use to help her in her quest to be standing she will use it. Even if she is tired, she just stands there crying refusing to sit down. She just wants to be standing so much.
It has become a little difficult to pop out of the room, even briefly. As it only takes a couple of seconds to be on her feet. If she is holding onto the couch it’s relatively safe, but yesterday she pulled herself up on her walker and stood there on the laminate wobbling. I just prayed I got to her before the walker skidded across the floor. She is cruising round now and I wonder how long it will be before she takes her first unassisted steps.
How old was your little one when they first walked?

Ours isn’t really either, so we bought a massive fence/pen thing to stop her getting all the bad stuff! x

I know, nightmare! 🙂 x
Arrrr!! Its funny how you wish theyd start moving but as soon as they do you wish they would sit still for 2 seconds so you can pop out the room for a second! Now the fun begins 🙂 enjoy x
Author
Yes that is exactly how I feel. You wish for it then slightly regret your wish! x
Such a happy and sad moment when they manage to start pulling themselves up isn’t it. My daughter pulled herself up really early and started walking at just over 9 months. There is no stopping them once they get started! Good luck!

Thanks I think I will need it! x
I remember 6yo walked just after her first birthday. It was a shock to the system when it happened
Author
I sort of want her to do it, but I don’t in another breath! x
Ah, so lovely, but also so hard! Boo walked on her first birthday, and Little Man was a couple of weeks after his, though he’d be cruising and crawling earlier than Boo. He gets everywhere now!!!

It is a little tiring isn’t it?! 🙂 x
My daughter was 14 months when she walked, but my son was 11 months, and that was a bit of a shock. Lordy-lou, he was all over the place. It was like one minute he was sitting up, content with reaching for his toys like a chubby little buddha, and the next he was toddling around and I had to find high places for things I didn’t want him to touch. Lovely post!
Author
Thanks, I wonder how fast she will develop x
This is where the fun begins lol!!! Eyes in the back of your head time!! My daughter was 11 months (she’s now 11 years!!) and my son was 16 months (he is now 8!) I miss all these little milestones! Enjoy them! 🙂 xx
Author
Thanks, I will x
It’s so funny how everything changes once they can start walking. Suddenly you have to move everything even higher and out of reach! My youngest started running when he was 10 months old and it was such hard work but also really good fun!! Good luck 🙂
Author
Yes I’m finding that already she want everything she shouldn’t have and is very determined! x
well done to her.
i love it when they start to walk.
both my kids walk at 13 months.

It is lovely x
Such great moments! The only problem is having to babyproof everything now 😉 I have to say, having a playpen helps a great deal at this stage, and I seriously recommend it. Enjoy these moments 🙂
Author
We just bought a huge fence like playpen, that goes round the whole room x
Yay!!! It is rather daunting but yay! I do hope you are babyproofed up! Ha ha x
Author
Not really baby proofed, but bought a massive fence that goes round the whole room so she can’t get to the dogs, fire etc x
awww, such special moments!
Mine were all cruising for absolutely ages before walking, and all of them were quite late walkers – eldest was 15.5 months, then my middle one was 20 months then the little one was 14 months, but they all cruised from about 10 months, apart from middle one who was about 1 year. I love it when they start cruising!

There can be such a range can’t there. I was 9 months and my sister 18 months! x
Mine started walking at 9, 10 or 11 months. It’s wonderful when they first stand, but you soon long for the days when you could turn your back for 2 seconds without them getting up to some mischief. Such lovely photos for you to look back and treasure x
Author
Thanks. Yes it is a bit of a nightmare already, I spend most of the day hovering round her while she stands up x
Oooh there will be no stopping her now!! I can’t remember exactly when O started walking, but I do know he never cared for crawling. He was definitely walking by 11 months – I only know this as I posted a video in my mums’ group on FB of him emptying my kitchen cupboard and someone asked how long he had been walking and I couldn’t even tell her and that was about a month before his first birthday. So I’d guess he was about 10.5 months maybe when he first started taking those tentative first steps, by 11 months he was pretty steady and by 12 months he was racing around!

Baby doesn’t crawl properly either. She does the stance, then drops and commando crawls x
What a lovely post, must be so nice seeing her standing. Bizzarely I remember the first time POD stood as we were at my in-laws about to come home – she’d be staying there for a few days when I broke my wrist. Must have been 11m old I think. There was no stopping her after that!
Author
Aw thanks hun, I think she will be on the move soon, she is so determined x
Oh I remember those days! Once F was able to stand up there was no stopping him and I had to be super careful about leaving the room. Although this quickly turned into walking and that was a whole different ball game right there!
Author
Yes I can’t leave her at all! Fun and games 🙂 x
And so it begins! I found this next stage so tricky. If you go anywhere they want to walk whilst you bend over uncomfortably, slowly plodding along with little fingers clutching yours. Babies are exhausting but they are also wonderful and every stage brings its challenges and delights x
Author
Oh I can’t wait…. 🙂 x
Love this age but it is really challenging. My advise is to get down on the floor and see what she sees at that height – then you know what stuff to move!
Author
Good idea! x
Oh yes, this is the part when everything is changing… no going back now… and after standing, comes walking and finally running… round and round with never ending energy
Author
Yes she has the never ending energy x
Aww bless her that is so cute! Standing even when she’s tired – it’s so exciting learning a new skill, I feel exactly the same, staying up late when I know I should be sleeping because it’s so fun lol
Author
Bless her 🙂 x
Aww well done to her and good luck to you keeping up with her 🙂 x

I think I need it! x
Gorgeous photos! Say goodbye to nipping off for a shower…
Author
Thanks x
I remember those days, my eldest started cruising at 7 months and was into everything and loved climbing. It was a nightmare and I couldn’t leave him anywhere!
Author
Yes it is quite tiring already! x
Oh now you’re in trouble!!! My eldest was 14 months, my second 17 and 1/2 months and my third was in between that.Keep your eye on your keys, phone and remote 😉
Author
Oh she loves all those things already x
