Top 5 ways to get fashion creative with your kids

Children love being creative, especially when it comes to art, but when you’re thinking of different ways to get creative with your kids, have you ever thought about fashion? There are some great activities out there to get your kids thinking creatively with their designs and to think about fashion in a fun and productive way. Here are 5 activities to take part in during the summer holidays…

  • Dress up days – This one could be good for those rainy days in the summer holidays. Let your children pick their outfit for the day to encourage creativity and you never know, you might be surprised by the outcome. Admittedly, this is a risky one, as we all know what a child’s mind is like. However, it’s good fun and gets them thinking about clothing and fashion regardless of their age.
  • Creating personalised clothing as presents – Following on from the above, a great unique gift could be to personalise clothing as presents for family and friends with photographs from big days out. This could be on t-shirts or something smaller like hats. Letting children t choose or even take the photos makes the present just that little bit more special.
  • Turn their designs into clothing – Whether this is on the walls or on paper, the designs kids come up with never fail to amaze. One of life’s mysteries is working out what is going on in their brains, right? So, why not get their designs printed on clothing to encourage creativity and thoughts on fashion designs as they get older?
  • Brand up the family – Why not get your  kids to channel their inner graphic designer and get creative with branding up the family? You could come up with some ‘family crest’ designs and get these printed on clothing to look the part on days out. Family bowling team anyone? Fire Label is a website that can make this happen, with products available in a  variety of sizes, including kids and adults.
  • Join a team – Encourage kids to join in with  sports teams or group activities, which often include wearing a uniform or kit. This will help them feel part of a team and wearing the same as the friends for the activity will give them a sense of belonging. This is great for making friends and keeping healthy too!
