Need help actually displaying your photos? Nixplay Iris review

We all know images are powerful, in our social media obsessed world they seem vital. In our families and homes they are also so important. Images capture our memories and lock them away for safe keeping.

Our photos of Ava are among my most precious possessions, although I’m not always the best at taking the photos off the memory card. So, many of them don’t get further than social media, if that. I know I should print them out and display them in our home, but I just never seem to find the time.

It does make me sad though that so many of our lovely memories aren’t surrounding us every day, so I needed a solution. Have you got a digital photo frame? I remember having one years ago and to be honest it wasn’t that great. However, technology has moved on so much since those days. So when the wonderful people at Nixplay sent me their Iris digital photo frame and I wanted to share it with you.

I can’t be the only one who has too many images not making it into ‘real-life’!

Aesthetics

Let’s face it no-one wants an ugly frame and the Iris is very sleek in design and comes in three colours, silver, peach copper and the burnished bronze that we were sent.

Set up

I have a confession, I HATE instructions, actually I would class myself as anti-instructions. You get something new then have to struggle through lots of poorly written instructions before you can even see it in action. However, with the Iris I didn’t even look at the instructions. Set up is so intuitive and easy.

There’s a decent length of power cable and then once you’ve set up your account (very quick), hooked it up to your wifi, the frame was ready to be paired with a computer. A visit to the Nixplay website to “Activate Frame” option to input the confirmation number displayed on the frame’s screen and my account was all set up.

You can use the web or mobile app to send photos to your frame instantly, using WiFi connectivity and the cloud to keep your images secure.

Dimensions

The frame is 8-inch with a screen-resolution of 1024×768 and an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Other key features include:

• • The schedule allows you to set a time each day when you want your frame to start and stop displaying your images

Integrations

Creating folders and playlists is so easy and the you can pull photos from your Facebook, Instagram and your online storage/computer.

You can take a picture and send it straight to your frame to be instantly displayed. Anyone who downloads the app can send images to someone with a frame, which is a great way for friends and family to stay in touch and share pictures easily.

You can give people access to certain playlists you have created and these playlists will then be accessible to them from their frame.

I LOVE this idea and when they team at Nixplay heard that we live so far from my mum, they offered to send my mum one of her own! I can’t wait to able to share our photos with mum more regularly than we manage now.

You can use playlists to display anything you want. For example, maybe you love a motivational quote? If so create some graphics in Canva and then add these to a playlist, et voila, a motivational playlist.
