I always find it interesting when we go to see friends and Baby gets to play with ‘new’ toys, one’s she hasn’t seen before. Sometimes she instantly falls in love with a particular toy and I know I have to get her one. Sometimes the choice of toy is a little unexpected. At her friend T-B’s house her toy of choice (despite the VAST array) is a plastic frying pan… (strange child!). Every time we go it is the same, she makes a bee-line for this frying pan. The other quirk of hers is to ignore all the toys and play with DVDs or the radiator knobs!.
Anyway Baby has just celebrated her first birthday, so I thought I would share her favourite 12 toys from her first 12 months.
Blossom Farm Spiral Wrap Around – We got his from Boots for around £14. Baby loves the sheep that is on it. She takes him out and about in the car, always holding on tight to Sheepy.
Ride on Car – This was a great bargain, Mr Hubby picked this up from a Sainsbury’s sale for £15. Baby loves scooting around on it and it is so cute that it has a little ignition lever that makes a sound and also a revving lever. When we turn it on, she will always give it a little rev before she sets off!
Tomy Hide and Squeak Eggs – This were another bargain for us. They normally cost £12.99, but I spotted ours at an NCT sale for £4.
Plum Wooden Kitchen – One of Baby’s best friends has this and she really liked it (so did I). She plays with it a lot, but she seems to hate the sink and always throws it out!. Ours was around £46 from Argos, but they are available from many places.
Little Tikes Rocking Horse – This was a present from our friends and Baby absolutely loves it. She rocks it and gets off all by herself and she always has a massive smile on her face. Such a hit! Thanks so much L! I think these are around £20, available from many places.
Sir-Prance-A-Lot – We bought this toy for Baby before she arrived and he went to all our Mum and Baby coffee mornings and all our day trips in the early days. I think Lamaze toys are great and good value. He was around £10.
Plum Wooden Swing – This was Baby’s 1st Christmas present and it is a great addition to our garden. Baby is never happier than when she is on a swing. This retails around £90. Ours was free thanks to our clubcard points and Tesco’s double points on toys event.
Lamaze Pyramid Play Gym – Although it is long since redundant, this was great for Baby in the early months. The mat wraps up the side a little and there are faces on the inside. Baby used to lie in there smiling at the faces. At the moment this is on offer for around £20 from Debenhams.
Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo – Baby loves to bounce, so on some recommendations from friends we bought her a Jumperoo. Instant hit! It was also great for giving me a quick few minutes to do the washing up or even have a cheeky cup of tea. These cost arounf £70-£80, but I found ours on Ebay for £40 and it was never used.
Smart Trikes 4-in-1 Dream Tricycle – Baby got this for Christmas from her Nanna. It is fab and can be steered single handed, which means it is so much easy for me to take the dogs out with us. She really likes it as she is so much closer to everything than she is in her buggy. They are around £100.
Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Opposites Monkey – We bought this in a sale before Christmas and it has been played with lots since then. He is actually quite cute.
VTech First Steps Baby Walker – This is quite versatile as the front unclips from the walker part so can be used on it’s own and there is lots on it to entertain. Baby started just sitting by hers playing with it and then progressed to pulling herself up, so it lasts quite a long time. Ours was another sale bargain at around £17 but they are usually around £24-25.
So these are Baby’s favourite toys from the past year. What is/was your child’s favourite toy?
If you enjoy reading my blog, I would be so grateful if you could vote for me in the BiB Awards xx

They are lovely. She really loves the sheep on it so much x
My daughter’s favorite toy when she was 1 year old is still her favorite now. A teddy bear. It has already lost it’s original color. LOL

Great idea to keep a list of the favourite toys, as they are so easily forgotten as they get older and life takes over! x
