5 Things; That Mean I’m Obsessed With Blogging

Welcome back to my weekly feature ‘5 Things’.  This week it is;

That Mean I’m Obsessed With Blogging

If I love something I tend to put a lot of myself and my time into it.  When I worked in Events Management, I was always on call, answering emails and phone calls; even though I only worked part time.  I would rather get on and graft, than worry about the work building up.

I have now been blogging almost 20 months and I feel way more passionately about my blog, than I did about the Events Management career that I loved dearly.  So I am sharing the five things that make me obsessed with blogging;

  • I can’t physically go a day without blogging.  Even when we were on holiday, I did bits and pieces.  Although I had scheduled all my content before we left.  Well you have to IG, don’t you?!
  • I don’t read anything other than blogs anymore.  I used to read books and I actually LOVE reading books.  However, these days I have no spare time at all, so blog reading is all I do.  If I didn’t read my favourites, I would feel like I was missing something.
  • I take pictures of everything all the time, just in case they might be useful in a post.  I think I might actually be obsessed by photography too!  My phone is always refusing to work because it is clogged full of pictures.  I collect things to use as backgrounds in pictures of products and I am always thinking of ways to improve my photography.
  • The Tots100 ranking day can make or break my week.  I am not competitive with my peers, but I always want to better myself.  So, like it or not, one little number can make me a very happy lady.
  • The dividing line between blogging and ‘real life’ has long been rubbed away.  Blogging is now my profession, my hobby and most of my friends are bloggers.  The people I speak to every day are bloggers, the thing that keeps me working every night well into the early hours is blogging.

I simply couldn’t imagine my life without this crazy, all consuming, wonderful world of blogging.  I count my blessing every day that I stumbled upon it and I am so grateful for everything it brings my way.

Are you obsessed with something?

I would love it if you could spare the time to vote for me in the BIB awards (‘Family’ probably fits my blog best)

  2. Blogs are pretty new to me, but I love that they are available to so many and that you can have conversations with your readers. I also find it a great way to connect with like minded.

  4. Great post. I’m the same with the books, I prefer to read blogs now. And I agree about the photography, it sort of goes hand in hand with blogging doesn’t it? 🙂 I love that blogging has inspired my interest of photography. x

  6. Oh no this means that it isn’t going to get any better ha! I am completely obsessed but I thought it was just because I am new. There are worse things to be obsessed with and everyone is so lovely. I didn’t think my list post was suitable to add to your linky but now that I have looked again maybe! You have to bare with, I am still a bit daunted ha! X

  7. What a great post and so familiar sounding. My blog is mainly for book blogging, so I still read a lot of books, but I also read a lot of blogs, and like you have made a lot of blogger friends.

  10. I am just starting to see these habits creeping in, not one day goes by without blogging or tweeting now. I would LOVE to do it as a job and might as well the amount of time I spend on it! I am loving it more and more every day and it really makes me smile when I read all the lovely blogs out there. Who knew such a world existed! Ps. I am always taking pictures just in case as you say, and have started on Instagram now!

  14. Haha! One person’s obsession is another person’s dream job! I absolutely LOVE my career as a pro-blogger but I do try and find a balance too – reading a real book or newspaper is such a joy for me so I try to squeeze the time in when I can (although to be fair I’ll probably IG myself doing it!). Fab post honey #thelist

  15. I definitely felt the same for a while but decided to take a step back. All the competitiveness gets a bit much and trying to keep up was affecting my family life. I do still curse my iPhone memory though. I got the lowest GB and I’m always getting shouted at by it when I’m trying to take the millionth photo of the day (by 10:30am!!!). x

      Ah I don’t feel or see the competitiveness, I feel competitive with myself to improve. I never feel it with others and spent a lot of time promoting and helping others and see lots of other people doing the same. I think we all need bigger memory cards! xx

  19. LOL! Even if I am not typing I am texting blog ideas to myself, yesterday I was walking downtown taking photos, I think the people behind me thought I was crazy! But you never know when that photo will be just the one that you need! Thanks for the chuckle, I guess I have crossed the line too!

  20. Ha ha I was like that the first few years I was blogging. Mind you I’m getting that way again now – helps I work in social media and copy writing though so it all kind of blurs into one x

  22. Oh dear… then I am definitely obsessed with blogging and also trying to schedule posts when I go away in two weeks! Strangely, I haven’t read any books since I started blogging last year but I’ve re-kindled the kindle (sorry!) and started making time to do so. My Tots 100 score has gone up and down so much and it definitely makes me upset when it’s the latter… I’m glad we’re all in the same boat xx

  24. Blogging is amazing – you are a very successful blogger, and you’ve worked incredibly hard at being a very successful blogger! You have much to justifiably feel proud of. Blogging gives us so much – a purpose, a focus, something of our own to feel proud of, amazing friends – and a new career to feel so proud of. As with any career though lovely Aby, it’s important to have a bit of balance, step back, read some books perhaps or enjoy a day out for the sake of the day – to help prevent burn out *wags finger gently* 😉 xxx

      Thank you Leigh for such a lovely comment. You are TOTALLY right, 100%. However, our current circumstances make stepping back a bit of an issue at least for the next few months. I do appreciate your wonderful support xxx
