Feathered Friends

We love the outdoors and for the sake of our sanity, we try to get outside every day.  Some fresh air to blow the cobwebs away.  Quite often our trips out involve going to feed the ducks or to visit our wonderful (and VERY friendly) local swans.

We are so lucky to live where we do, as we have so many fabulous local places, where Baby can get up close of personal to the wildlife.

Duck 2

One such place is our local nature lakes, which is so beautiful and has a playground too.  The perfect place to while away the hours.

Come rain or shine, feeding the ducks is one activity that Baby just adores and I think she would stay with her feathered friends all day if she could.

Duck 5

She loves it when Daddy comes too, as he always has change to buy proper duck food.  Unlike Mummy who always has to resort to raiding her snack box!

Duck 7

It is wonderful to see how confidently she interacts with the birds.  As an animal lover, I have no fear and never have had.  I am so glad she is following in my footsteps.  I know what a great gift animals are and how they can enrich your life.  I am pleased that she has not put up any barriers to them enriching hers.

We live fairly close to a canal, that is inhabited by a vast amount of beautiful swans.  Almost every time we go into town, we pop to visit the swans (and ducks), which Baby adores.  One swan in particular is super friendly and thinks nothing of wandering across the car park after us.  If we meet the canal further up, the swans will swim beside us all the way down the canal.  Such beautiful creatures, I am so happy Baby is as enchanted with them as I am.

  1. It’s always great to see kids interacting with animals in a calm and confident way, she looks like she respects that they’re wild animals. The ducks are a firm favourite here on the farm however people aren’t usually as keen with the geese. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

  2. We went for a walk around the lake on our estate last week, and Elsa really loved looking at all the ducks, swans and geese. I’m a bit wary of her getting too near so we didn’t feed them but my mum has bought some wild bird seed for next time!

  4. What a gorgeous post. M loves feeding the ducks too but unfortunately he rarely gets the chance to do so as there aren’t many at all in Milan! Whenever we go back to the UK there are lots of opportunities though, and we always make the most of them. It’s such an integral part of growing up, isn’t it!
