Last year we spent a lot of time and effort creating Baby’s own garden; securely fenced off from the rest of our garden and housing her playhouse and slide. She has the perfect haven, away from our dogs.
After months of not being used, the playhouse and the bits and bobs in the garden, are in need of a bit of a clean to make them ship-shape. While I was sprucing up Baby’s garden, I realised that the rest of the garden is far from being Summer ready! So, I created an action plan of our tasks to get our garden Summer ready!

Our Garden Action Plan
- Tidy up and clean – Winter leaves behind the inevitable dirt and grime, so all our garden bits need a wash and a brush up. A spot of trimming and weeding should get things back in order.
- Replace garden furniture – We have a metal dining set outside; a few years on and being a little unloved, means it has suffered from rust and looks worse for wear. I think the time has come to replace it and I quite fancy a new new wooden set.
- Add colour – I love bright colours, but Mr Hubby and I have particularly bad form with keeping plants alive. I thought adding an outdoor bean bag could be the answer. A lovely splash of colour and practical too. Baby would love it!
- Seed the lawn – Our lawn has suffered from the addition of Baby’s trampoline, meaning there are sections of it which would benefit from being reseeded.
- Patio Heater – I really feel the cold and so a patio heater would be lovely to make sure those summer evenings don’t turn into a chilly affair.
- Patio Planters – We will have to find some hardy colourful plants to help soften the wooden furniture on the patio. I love these wooden planters, such an unusual design.
- Fragrance – Find some beautifully fragranced plants, that we can use near the patio, meaning we will be able to smell them while dining.
I adore spending as much time outside as possible in the summer and believe that the garden can be an extension of the home, if you make it a place you want to spend time in. A comfortable place for relaxing and having fun with family and friends, really does make the garden an additional room of the home.

Isn’t this time of year amazing? We’ve been getting ready for Summer too and finally taken the marquee sides down from our decking and its roof which has totally opened up the garden. The boys have spent all day every day out there since xxx

Ooh I love that wooden planter! I am renting at the moment so I can’t really start renovating the garden. I’ve been looking at ways to make it a nicer place to be over the Summer without having to completely re-do anything. I’d love to clean up the patio and get some furniture out there so we can eat outside. Elsa would love it!

I’ve been making the most of this nice weather by getting out in the garden and doing as much as I can to get it ready for the summer. I’ve had to seed the lawn where the dog has randomly decided to dig holes. Our decking needs a lick of paint and we also need some garden furniture as we’ve been here for 2 years and still not around to getting any!

We’ve just been talking about patio heaters too. I’m desperate for some sort of outdoor heating device but hubby hates chimineas and we can’t agree on an alternative. Baby’s garden looks lovely, you’ve put so much effort in to it. She’s a lucky girl.
