Pony Days

I have spoken a few times on my blog about my love of horses and of riding for most of my life. I hoped that Baby would love it too and to my utter delight she does. I would never force her to do anything she didn’t want to do, but I know what a great hobby it is, so I am glad she is developing the love.

She started riding on days out; if there was the opportunity to ride a pony, she was there like a shot. She has also ridden a few friends ponies that were kindly offered to her. She began asking to ride everyday and it wasn’t always possible to arrange with friends, so I started looking into a share pony. As I used to be a Dressage rider, trainer and judge, I don’t actually need someone to teach her. We just need to pony. So sharing seemed like a good option. We chip in with a few chores and a bit of cash and in return Baby gets to ride 3 times a week and treat the pony like her own. So without further ado I would like to introduce you to Honey Bee!  (I apologise for the poor quality pictures, they were all taken on my mobile, which isn’t the best…).

Honey

At the moment we are trialing Honey, just to make sure it works for us, as she is stabled about 40 minutes from us, which makes it quite a long round trip.

Baby is so happy when she is at the stables and is growing in confidence each time, which is so lovely to see.

Riding

Even though Honey is the biggest pony she has ridden it doesn’t seem to phase her.

all of us

We have been to see Honey a few times now and it has been lovely to get back a little of my old life, albeit Baby riding not I and walking over trotting poles as opposed to doing flying changes. I am sure in years to come she will be doing all of that, but for now I am happy to soak up the start of Baby’s journey.

It has been lovely to go to the stables and start to teach Baby little bits and bobs and watch her fall in love with horses as I did, all those years ago.

  5. Ahhh what fun you all are having. I love it and Baby looks like she is on a grand adventure for sure. Outdoor and animal adventures are the very best.

  6. Horse riding is one of the best bits about my childhood holidays spent at my dads in Wales. I had a pony called Frosty but mostly helped out at a local riding school and trekked across the mountains. SO glad Baby is loving it from such an early age!
