What’s your baby’s #SoundofHappy

There’s nothing sweeter in this world than the sound of your kids laughing. Only possibly eclipsed by the very first time you hear them laugh. Although in one respect it seems like a lifetime ago that I first heard Baby laugh, I still have hazy memories of those first smiles and giggles. It was such a magical time.

For babies happiness is simple, they often love knowing what’s coming next and are particularly delighted by sounds. Baby loved it when we blew raspberries on her tummy, the noise would make her laugh so much. Pure happiness right there! When she was really tiny she just loved it when she could see our faces in her field of vision. We would pull funny faces and smile at her, sometimes making noises; eventually she reciprocated with a smile and a few noises of her own.

Silly voices were also always a hit and come to think of it, they still illicit smiles even now that she’s three. Our dogs have always had the power to create laughter; o.k so our dogs do look a bit odd, but I think it probably goes for most kids and their animals too.

When I think back to the first year, one of the things she loved most was when we played peekaboo with her. We always  added ‘where’s the baby gone’, ‘there she is!’ and it didn’t even matter if we hid behind a blanket or just hid behind our hands, she was giggling throughout with the expectation of the surprise she knew was to come. Our laughter would then make her laugh more; laughing is so contagious isn’t it?!

As she got a little older chasing and telling her we are going to catch her would result in hysterical laughter. She still loves to be chased now and obviously be tickled when she is caught.
