My Wild One #2

The weather remains generally rubbish and it can be really tempting to stay indoors.  There is something about the cold, wet combination that makes me want to sneak back under the duvet with a cup of tea. However, those memories aren’t going to make themselves, so we are making the effort to make the most of the breaks in the rain.

Last weekend we decided to pop to the park, as we haven’t been for ages.  After picking our way across the muddy field, we found the gates were shut and so was the park.  There were momentarily some grumpy faces, but then we decided to roll with it. We took our ball and headed to the football pitch nearby.

Baby adores playing football and I think she has actually got some silky skills!

untitled-4

She is so determined and spent quite some time trying to get a basket with her football; she might need to grow a little first….

untitled-8

A dirty tackle on her Daddy if ever I saw one!

untitled-9

She is like the duracell bunny and must have covered so many miles on those little legs.

untitled-12

She loved throwing the ball for us and shouting at us to ‘Get it!’, some might say she was even a little bit bossy! We had such a fun time, kicking the ball, lifting her up so she could try to score a basket and snapping away with the camera as we played.

Even the mini lake on the pitch couldn’t deter our little Beckham, she just happily sloshed through the puddles.

untitled-37

I love how kids put so much into everything they do; she throws the ball as if her life depends on it and makes huffy puffy noises as she runs.  Putting every ounce of effort into each action.  I wish I could be so committed.

I am so glad we didn’t just head back to the car, that we carried on regardless and made the most out of a small break in the bad weather.

untitled-58

I really believe that time outside is good for the soul; good for everyone’s soul, not just the little people.  It helps to keep us all on an even keel.

So, next time you are tempted to crawl back under a blanket and stay at home, just think of the adventures you could have and the memories you could make, even if you only get as far as the park.

Quality family time, however short, is so important and should be grabbed with both hands.

  1. Baby looks especially grown up in these pictures! I totally agree about getting out regardless of the weather. We ventured out on Saturday in the pouring rain. Indiana had the time of her life splashing in the puddles though, and the hot food in the cafe after definitely helped haha xx

  2. Haha I love the tackle photo! We too have been making ourselves go out in this miserable weather but I am so glad we have! We have already made some great memories and even discovered a new hidden park! #MyWildOnes

  3. Gosh, Baby looks so grown up!! Wonderful photos. Love her ‘gusto’! You’re so right, children have such a gift for giving whatever they’re doing, all of their effort. Lovely post darling x

  4. Its so true. I think its so good for everybody to get out of the house, whatever the weather! Even if its just for 5 minutes. She looks like she had such a lovely time bless her! Lovely to read x

  5. Bless her! She’s looking so grown up! We should get the girls together for a game of football – Busby would love a partner in crime 🙂
