There have been some parts of this week, when the weather has been truly miserable. As a family we love being outside, going on adventures. While we try to go out for some fresh air even when it is pouring down, we are less inclined to go on day trips. With a toddler who is temperamental about wearing hats and point blank refuses to wear gloves, sometimes we have to retreat to the warmth of indoors.
The day dreaming of summer holidays starts to creep into our lives and planning our summer adventures. There is no doubt in my mind, that despite the awesomeness of puddle splashing, summer is more pleasurable with children than winter. It is so much easier to keep them entertained, when you have more options available and are not worried about frostbite taking hold!
We were challenged by On the Beach to create a Winter Beach at home and we couldn’t wait to get started.
First of all, I purchased some beach themed items, to create our beach in a room. I am sure we will enjoy using them all outside too, when the weather improves. We decided that Baby’s room would be the best place to set up our ‘Winter Beach’, so we needed to set the scene.
Then we added in our props….
We needed some extra beachiness! So we decided to add in a special project, something that would take us from now to summer. We created a message in a bottle. This would be a lovely addition to our scene and would be great to take to the real beach in the summer and set it free in the sea.
We simply wrote a note from Baby and included some of her ‘colouring’. So if someone found it they would know who sent it.
Then our Winter Beach was complete.

We just had to add Baby!
We even made a little video of the transformation.
Are you dreaming of warmer days? Where do you want to go this year?
Disclosure: We were given payment to buy our props.

Oh my goodness, I don’t know where to start! Your beach is amazing (especially love the parrot!) and your message in a bottle idea is too cute. I think it was baby in her little tutu swimming costume that got me though, she is flipping adorable! x

What a great idea, if you can’t go to the beach bring the beach to you 🙂 love it.
As beach fans we try to get there as many times as we can (hearing the sea is so relaxing) but when you can’t this might help relieve some withdrawl

This looks like lots of fun was had. What a great indoor activity to do when you don’t fancy braving the wind and rain or just as a fun thing to do. I bet baby loved it! Xxx

I LOVE this idea! I was too big and pregnant with my 3rd this summer for us to get away for a sunny beach holiday (we had a few rainy beach days in Wales instead!) so I think my boys would love creating something like this. Thanks for sharing.
