Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset?
Have you ever thought about starting your own business or turning your blog into your business, but “stuff” just got in your way?
Often the difference between people that make things happen and those who don’t is mindset. So how do you know if you have an entrepreneurial mindset. If you do, how do you make things happen when it feels like the odds are stacked against you?
Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset?
As you consider these personality traits, think about whether you can see yourself in them:
* You have leadership qualities and can inspire people to action.
* You’re a creative thinker, who sees solutions to problems.
* Possessing a feeling that there’s something more out there for you, other than what you’re doing in your current job.
* You have lots of innovative ideas.
If any or all of these speak to you, then you could very well be on your way to owning your own business or transitioning your blog into your business, because you do possess that entrepreneurial spirit.
How to clear the road toward entrepreneurial success
Going from the 9:00 to 5:00 grind to the entrepreneurial life may not be the easiest path, but it’s something you can definitely achieve if you want it enough. However, there are several steps you need to take before forging head first into business ownership.
* Get clear and focused
Getting clear on what it is you want to achieve is an integral first step. It’s not as simple as coming up with an idea and writing it down. You have to write down your goals, but even more importantly, you have to break them down. Being specific is not an option; it’s mandatory. You need to have clear, specific goals when it comes to starting a new business.
* Devise a plan
Once you’re clear on what your goal for your new business is, you have to devise a plan for success. Write down what your goal is, how you will achieve that goal in smaller steps and then break that list down even further to actionable specific tasks.
* Take action
Next, it’s time to take action steps towards making your plan come to life. You need to do more than just theorise and plan. Declare aloud what your action steps are (publically); so you build in your own accountability factor.
* Delegate
If you’re starting a new business of your own, don’t be afraid to delegate tasks, even if you don’t have employees yet. One day delegating will be a task you will have to learn anyhow.
Allow family members and friends to help take the load off somewhere else while you learn all you need to know about your new business endeavor. Or begin to outsource tasks to a freelancer, to give you more time to work on your business rather than in your business.
* Letting go
Sometimes in order to create something new, we need to let go of something old. In order to clear the path to creating a new business, something else will have to fall by the wayside. Your home may need to be a little more cluttered or a little less spotless. You may have to let go of a favorite sport or activity for a while, but it’s well worth it in the end.
Keeping your day job is important until you are secure financially in your new business. It may be a difficult road to travel, but having an entrepreneurial mindset is a gift. Once you open it, you will be happy that you did.
