Baby’s big girl’s bedroom

This weekend something big happened.  Baby moved into her big girl’s bedroom.  She is still in her cot at the moment, but I was so excited for her to move and gain more space.  To be able to have more toys in her room and the little reading nook, that I have been dreaming of making for her.  However, the move was a tinged with a little sadness.  For so long I believed that we would never have children and so when I fell pregnant, I took great pleasure in decorating her nursery.  Heavily pregnant, I diligently created a decal tree, with birds and a pretty birdcage, which I adorned with tiny crystals.  I would sit on the rocking chair imagining what it would be like to have her in our lives.  So much care went into every detail and now it is just our spare room, it seems like a waste.

However, overriding any hint of sadness, is pure excitement of this fabulous new space that she now has.

I made the bunting to add a pop of colour and made a little extra for the top of her canopy.

Room

I created this reading nook, from a chunk of an old memory foam mattress, which I covered in fabric.  I did a little make over on an old magazine rack, which will be great for housing her books, so little hands can get to them (it wasn’t quite dry when I took the pictures!).

Room

We were gifted this incredible sticker from Stickerscape (full review and giveaway coming soon), which is so fitting for Baby.   We were also gifted a duvet and pillow case set from Baroo for her toddler bed.  As she is still in the cot at present, I have used this fabulous duvet to make the reading nook extra comfy.

Room

Most things in the room have just come from her nursery, as we didn’t really have a makeover budget, but the new room has breathed fresh life into them.  Obviously you can’t have too many fairy lights!  We have also been gifted a fabulous Toddler Bed from Kiddicare, so we will set this up when she is ready to move from her cot.

She LOVES it!  She couldn’t believe the fairy lights, especially when I took her to bed last night and Daddy had put them on ready for us.  It felt really magical.

  1. Looks fabulous, I love the reading nook. I keep meaning to put fairy lights in my daughters room, she wants me to paint hers like her big brothers room is being currently so might add some then. Thank you for linking up with #magicmoments

  3. That looks lovely! I miss my daughter’s fairy lights, she insisted we take them down once the bulb went in one, but I can’t find replacements 🙁 Also all the new ones are battery operated which isn’t what we currently have.

  4. Gorgeous room. I know what you mean about the nursery, I spent so long decorating Jasmine’s when I was pregnant that I will be immensely sad when she eventually moves out of that room.

  7. Its so pretty! Our poor toddler doesnt have a room of his own yet – he has a corner of our room still as the age gap is too big for him to share with an older sibling and despite a year of househunting we have had no joy – I look forward to decorating a room for him at some point soon!

  8. love the look of the room. Looks so spacious. My fav is the reading nook. Been trying to figure out how to add something like that in my daughter’s room

  9. She has a beautiful room but I am worried about your netting in the reading nook – we had that and found out it had been recalled as a danger of choking so you may want to look into it xx
