Our Snowy Walk

Being a parent means you get to experience lots of wonderful firsts through the eyes of your children.  They are all special in their own way, some are dramatic, others more low key, but they are all still equally important.  I remember the first time Baby rolled over, pulled herself up, went on a swing; so many wonderful moments that will be etched into our lives and our memories forever.

Last week it snowed where we live.  I have vague memories of light snow two years ago when Baby was born, but she was obviously too tiny and ‘new’ to enjoy it.  Not this time!

It was so exciting watching her step out onto the snow and experience the feel of it soft under her feet for the first time.  We went to look for her little sheepy pal in the field behind our house, but unfortunately he wasn’t there.

She is usually so pale, it was odd seeing her little rosy cheeks!

We then decided to go for a little wander around the lanes where we live.  Just watching her investigate the snow was lovely.  She showed some confusion when it started to pile up on the toes of her boots, and then seemed relieved when I showed her how to knock it off.

I am not a mean mummy, she point blank refuses to wear gloves, believe me I have tried!  Those poor pinkies!

I suppose it had to happen!  As we were making our way back home, she fell over and was a little horrified that the white stuff was now on her hands!

There will be many times that she experiences snow in her life, but I will always remember our first snowy walk.

  1. What a special way to document her first time experiencing the snow. And your lucky to have so much of it as well. I live in Surrey and it snowed for about an hour. It lasted long enough for my 3yr old son to walk through it from the house to the car on our way to nursery. By the time I picked him up form lunch it was all gone. Hope she gets to enjoy many more walks in the snow 🙂

  4. I bet she loved it! Why oh why don’t children want to keep gloves on? She does look cosy in her suit though and I LOVE those reigns. It’s great that you got some snow otherwise it may have been another year. Did you make a snow man too?
