There was time when Baby was first born, and for a good few months after, that she seemed to live on me. She would have her milk lying on me, sleep lying on me and be comforted whilst lying on me. It was frustrating at times; even going for a wee was difficult. For months I ate all my meals with one hand, as Baby would be sleeping on my chest.
As the months have turned into years, so many things have happened already. Her naps transferred to the car initially and have now almost stopped altogether. She still has a couple of bottles a day, but now instead of lying on me, she has them while playing. Her night time bottle has also moved to her bed, from mummy’s arms. I now sit beside her in the dark on the rocking chair until I know she is asleep.

The one thing that remains is film time cuddles. In recent months Baby’s concentration has improved so that she can now sit through a whole film. We have a very full family life and I don’t see the damage of TV, if the child has other interests and is engaged with outside activities and other children. Anyway, we watch a fair bit of TV, but the number of films we watch is now outweighing the kids shows.
If Baby is a little poorly or tired, she will lie on me, sometimes with a comforting bottle, and we will watch a film. Often she will reach her hand up to stroke my hair or my face. Such a tender and loving act from a little one.
I realise that this too won’t last forever, and it will soon disappear like those other special moments. Hopefully, to be replaced by different, but equally as wonderful ones. For now I will cherish our tv cuddles.

This is such a lovely post. It’s so very true as well: all those frustrating things become the things you miss when your baby outgrows them 🙁 Enjoy the cuddles while they last! Then we get to wait for grandchildren cuddles 😛
As everyone will tell you – those moments are gone in a flash but it’s great that you are taking a step back & enjoying the moment in the moment. I wish I did more of that when my children were small but at least reading posts like this remind me of those moments & the feelings they evoked x
Aww enjoy those times as they fly past
Nothing in the world comes close to the cuddles from our tots. When my boy wraps his arms around my neck I want the moment to last a lifetime. Long may the continue xx #MagicMoments
It’s great that you still have the opportunity to sit and cuddle with Baby, it’s always the things that annoy us while they’re happening that we miss the most. Make the most of all the snuggles. Popping in from Magic Moments.

I think I found it frustrating at the beginning as it would literally be all waking hours and sometimes I would sit there desperate for a drink, but unable to get up. I adore it now xx
Such a lovely post. It’s true that they won’t last forever. I am struggling with Elliw, she will follow me everywhere, she will hardly ever leave me. I’m still not used to it because Mia my eldest never did it. But Elliw will never sit still with me to have cuddles x
Oh yes, do make the most of the snuggles. Although, they do still happen, and in some ways, because they become infrequent, you enjoy them all the more x #magicmoments
This is such a beautiful post. It’s scary how fast it goes isn’t it. I also miss those days now when Evie was clung to me, but at the time I found them frustrating sometimes. Now I cherish our cuddles while we watch the bedtime hour on CBeebies. It’s the only time she really sits down for a while and cuddles in, unless she’s feeling poorly. We haven’t watched films before (no idea why), I might give this ago to try and sneak some more cuddles in there! 😀 Popping over from #magicmoments x

Thanks so much. It does go fast, Baby is obsessed by Frozen, Toy Story and Despicable Me (1 and 2)! xx
I dont see the damage of TV either, I think a nice snuggle watching a film is great quality time. xx
I remember the days when my tiny baby would lay on me for hours, i miss these moments so much! If you little one enjoys a film and some mummy time whats wrong with that! like you say, as long as it’s not all day everyday i don’t see the harm #magicmoments
Ah how sweet! My daughter is the same way. I love the TV /bottle cuddles – it’s a special time to treasure!! x
Ahh such a sweet post, my smallest lady won’t sit still on me for a single second now at 16 months but I remember when she was younger there was nothing I loved more, you forget these moments as time moves on now I’m thrown back in time and I miss that #broody
Yes at 3, the twins are starting to watch films more, but they still struggle with the whole thing! We find that now they’ve dropped their nap the afternoon is nice for quite time – i.e. reading or films. Ahhh bless, snuggles are the best! Jess xx

Yes I think without naps you need that quiet time 🙂 xx
Aren’t film cuddles just the best it is so lovely to spend some quality time with your child and feel the warmth of their special hugs.
Cuddles in front of the TV is one of the sweetest moments of parenting. My son doesn’t do it very often, but when he does it’s the best feeling 🙂
Such a lovely post- for now I get to enjoy my baby cuddles as Ailsa is only 6 months but I know that one day those will end and I will just need to try and get cuddles when I can. It is lovely to watch our children grow but sometimes you can just wish for that tiny little baby again.

Being Mrs Lynch
Lamb had always been a cuddly baby, and is still a cuddly toddler. His naps started dropping, but he seems to want a daytime nap again, so we tend to have these on the sofa watching a film too. It will kill me when we don’t sit cuddling through a whole movie anymore! But like you say, those times will be replaced with other things 🙂 xx
Aw lovely post, I think its fantastic you still have that special time together! My little boy has ever been very cuddly and even now at 5 is to energetic to sit through a film! x
I miss that the most now my littlest monkey isn’t a baby anymore, I love cuddles. He still will come in for a cuddle but usually when he’s feeling unwell or exhausted
Oh hang onto every cuddle! Pickles naps have virtually stopped – but my true cherishing moment is when he comes into my room in the early hours of the morning – I scoop him into bed with me and he whispers ‘I love you Mumma’ I don’t care what time it is! Kaz x

Ah this is lovely Aby and these are definitely the moments to treasure aren’t they? I remember feeling so excited when Mads could sit through a whole film because I really wanted to watch all the Disney classics with her! x
