Summer is here! Woo hoo! For us that means more quality family time, plenty of adventures, alfresco dining and lots of BBQ’s. The warm summer evenings stretch out our days and encourage us to spend more time outside. Putting our chores aside and leaving our phones inside, giving us more chance to focus on each other.
This week (29th of May- 4th of June) is National BBQ week and last weekend we got into the groove by having our own BBQ thanks to Robinsons.

We are big fans of Robinsons squash. It’s a fabulous way to make sure all members of your family are drinking enough water as the temperatures start to soar. Especially for me, as I really dislike plain water. Robinsons squash contains real fruit that’s squeezed, pressed or crushed in to every drop.

We decided to make some fruit kebabs to cook on the BBQ and Ava couldn’t wait to get stuck in. She really enjoyed putting the kebabs together and was very meticulous in the order the fruit went on the skewer! That’ll teach mummy for trying to help!

I think she did a really good job! We used Strawberries, Nectarines, Peaches, Pineapple, Mango and Bananas.
After some trampoline and swing time, Ava was keen to give the Robinsons squash the taste test! All flavours passed her stringent appraisal and were deemed fit to give out to mummy and daddy. She kept the summer fruits for herself!

I tested out my fab apron kindly sent by Robinsons, but hubby was firmly in charge of the cooking; Nigella I’m not!

This little monkey was so thrilled with our BBQ and announced that it was the best day ever. Her day got better when daddy gave her some sweetcorn, which is her all-time favourite food.

As you can see she takes sweetcorn eating VERY seriously indeed!

All that BBQ’ing was thirsty work and it wasn’t long before hubby was enjoying the refreshing Robinsons squash too.

With the sausages and chicken polished off, it was time to pop our fruit kebabs on the BBQ, after a quick brush with olive oil.

Such beautiful summery colours!

Ava was so proud of her creations and wanted to share them with our neighbours, bless her.

It was quite tricky to decide where to start, but when she did the reports were that they were yummy. Kids really love to help make what they eat and Ava certainly seems much more interested if she has helped to create it.

We had such a lovely time at our BBQ and I hope you all make the most of National BBQ week too. If you do why not grab some fruit and whip up your own kebabs. Make sure you get some Robinsons squash to keep your whole family refreshed.
