Having a Ball in Our Rose Petal Cottage

For Baby’s 1st Birthday we bought her a wooden playhouse for the garden, we created a little private garden for her surrounded by a white picket fence.  I made the curtains and spent so much time collecting bits and bobs to make it just perfect for her.  Baby adores her own little house and while it is still in our garden, as the days get wetter and colder, the time we spend out there is reducing.  Playing house is not as much fun in the pouring rain!

At two and a half, Baby is relishing imaginative play and adores copying what Mummy and Daddy do; she is desperate to help us too.  We spend hours having tea parties and she loves to cook for us.  Just as we were looking for way to extend her scope for role playing opportunities within our house, Baby was sent the Rose Petal Cottage from DreamTown®

The box sat in the hall for a couple of days as I was short of time, and every time Baby saw it she would get so excited saying ‘my house’ and pointing, while bouncing up and down.  In the end I cleared my diary and put it together for her.  She helped me put it up and was itching to get inside. I must admit I was too!

The details are wonderful even down to the ladybird on the roof.  The front of the house opens up (in the door is a pretty shuttered window) and there is also a door on one side complete with letterbox.  Inside there is a working shelf, mirror, photo frame for you to add your own picture and lots of beautifully drawn features.

Rose Petal Cottage comes with a cooker with twisting dials and an opening oven door, to give an authentic feel.  You can also buy an additional kitchen set and tea time set.

The cottage is made up of lightweight, but strong poles covered by a thick zip-on cover, which covers the outside and inside of the house.  It is the perfect size for Baby to play in, but not too big meaning that we have to take it down every night.  The design is gorgeous, very chocolate box cottage, with frills and a pink/mint colour scheme.  I wish I had had something like this when I was little.  I think I had an old cardboard box!

Baby loves to bake cakes and so she was thrilled with the oven and the tray of cupcakes already in there.  Baby creates many culinary masterpieces in this kitchen.

As a parent I love the detail.  There is so much that Baby can interact with and use in her play.  Children love their own space, and what is better than your own little house!

This lovely cottage is suitable for children over two years old and you can find it for sale at Argos.  The Cottage can be bought for £99.99, with the Kitchen Set being £44.99 and the Tea Time Set being £19.99.

  1. Ah would you look at her little face, she’s delighted with herself. Tea parties are the best kind of parties 🙂

  2. This is so pretty. I would have loved this as a kid. Judging by my own daughter’s behavior, she’d love this too. Now to find the room.

  3. What a gorgeous play house. It’s amazing how much the price of their toys add up though. I’ve been turning cardboard boxes into train carriages for my 2 year old. It’s lovely watching their imagination coming in

  4. Aww bless her, Baby looks like she is having the best time in her little house and I love the photo of her checking the cupcakes out of the oven. We have an older version of this but it doesn’t have the mirror or photo frame.
