Our iCandy Adventure

Certain brands are synonymous with quality.  To me iCandy is one such brand; the Ferrari of the pushchair world.  We are now the proud owners of an iCandy Raspberry Stroller.  Our current stroller has thrown up a couple of issues with continued use, so we were ready to try something else.

We had a few plans for the weekend, so the iCandy was going to join us in our adventures.  On Saturday we went to our local town where they had a street fair.  Lots of dressed up people on stilts, and even a giant horse, were some of the sights to behold.  Baby wasn’t sure at all about the tall people though…

There’s much more of what we saw in our little video at the end of the post, including Baby learning that if you bash a balloon on the ground it pops!  The iCandy was so nippy around the crowded shops and felt really light and responsive.  I was able to push it with one hand and not crash into anyone!  We have had a few strollers over the last 2 and a bit years and none of our previous ones have had the storage space of the iCandy Raspberry.  The basket is huge and easily accessible which isn’t always the case with some strollers.

The next day we ventured to our local farm park, as we thought Baby needed an animal fix and it would test the iCandy on rougher terrain.

Finkley Down Farm is such a wonderful place for children, it has lots of different farm animals, a huge indoor soft play area, animal activities, sand pits and a host of outdoor play equipment.  It really is packed full of fun stuff to do. First thing on our agenda was to say hi to the goats.  Baby is pretty brave when it comes to animals; I guess it’s in the blood.

This chap was quite confident!  The iCandy coped really well with all the different surfaces of the farm and was really stable when Baby got out to investigate.

It also provided a great place to stop and have a snack!  I can genuinely say she has never climbed into a stroller on her own, of her own free will, but she will with this one.  So that’s got to say something.  She even pulls the hood up, something which she will not tolerate with any other stroller.

When she was refueled, it was time to go pony riding!  I am desperate not to become a push pony club mum (being an ex dressage trainer, rider and judge), but I am beyond thrilled that she loves riding!  Whoop!  Time for a quick picture before it was her turn.

She concentrates so hard when she is riding, but I love it that she sits really well already (that is not me becoming pushy…!).

Look at her little face!  Such a cute pony too.  The stroller has a really useful secret compartment under the seat at the far end of the basket, which is ideal for stashing your purse on days out like this, when you might be away from the stroller taking part in activities.  It saves you carrying your valuables with you.

The hood is lightweight but has UV protection built into the fabric and it gives a great amount of coverage. The back reclines with a simple click, perfect for snoozes on the go.

We have struggled in the past to find a stroller that has long enough straps as Baby is super tall.  iCandy kindly sent us a longer strap, but in summer weight clothes she is fine in the standard length.  It is great to have the option though; she is only going to get taller!

We had to do the rounds patting all the donkeys, ponies and even more goats.

Baby adores pushing the iCandy and the adjustable handle means I can lower it, so it is easy for her to push.  One of our past issues has been none extendable handles, as I am 5ft 10″ and Mr Hubby is 6ft 2″, the fixed length ones can mean we develop a stoop.  This handle extends a great distance, meaning it is suitable for everyone, whatever their height.

After pushing the iCandy around for what felt like forever, it was time to trade it in for a tractor…..

While Baby was playing peek-a-boo Sparky was chilling in comfort.  Although lightweight, the Raspberry has well padded straps and a comfortable liner, with fully adjustable straps, making sure you get the perfect fit.

The stroller has a different folding mechanism than I am used to, it is more of a concertina fold than an umbrella fold, which make it so easy to put up and fold down, even with one hand and it is light and easy to lift into the boot.  If you want to read more reviews, then this one is really informative.
