Our pony days with Decathlon

Regular reader will know that we are pony mad in this house. Ava shares a pony and we ride a couple of times a week. As parents, we all know how fast kids grow and when they have a hobby that requires special ‘kit’ the costs can escalate as items need to be replaced on a regular basis.

The winter term has started and the weather is getting distinctly cooler, but this won’t stop us from riding throughout the frosty months ahead.

The family brand Decathlon believe in making sport fun and accessible, so they were perfect for us to work with. Their prices are low, but the products are of a really high quality. Music to my ears! The great quality we want, but without the high price tags that make replacing items tough on the bank balance.

Decathlon have put together 20 kits for £20 or less. They hope to encourage everybody to try out a new sport or hobby. To encourage family fun beyond the start of the school term. Some of the kits are especially for the kids and cover a wide range of activities, so your sure to find a kit to kit in with your families hobbies. There are kits for solo and group activities too.

As we aren’t starting a hobby from fresh and already have some kit; we picked some alternative items to share with you all. First up the clothes! There is nothing cuter than a little kid dressed up in their proper riding gear, see what I mean?!  Ava loved her new Fouganza Jodphurs, which are super soft and she remarked how comfortable they were. There was a lot of love for the two tone colour; they definitely look and feel far more expensive than their £11.99 price tag.

We also got a fab sky blue polo shirt, a Fouganza bright pink fleece which was only £8.99 and the Fouganza gilet – perfect for the colder weather and a total steal at £8.99. She now has some Fouganza Jodphur boots to grow into as they were a bit too big yet.

Vale Brothers Grooming Kit put a huge smile on Ava’s face and she was thrilled to have her own grooming kit for Sali the pony. This kit costs £11.99 and includes 7 items (brushes/sponges/hoof pick etc) plus the box, such great value.

She absolutely loved brushing Sali and showing her Daddy how to do it! She used all of the brushes and was very thorough!

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful pony in our lives. I want to be able to buy Ava things that she will love for the pony, so it’s so lovely to know there’s somewhere I can go to buy the quality we want but with the prices that I can afford.
