The Valley, Cornwall #Review

Last week we had a family holiday in Cornwall at The Valley. I won the holiday last year, when I was part of the Parent Panel; a few bloggers had to write a post about why they wanted to stay at The Valley and they picked my post as the winner.  As we had lots of other things planned for 2015 we booked it for May this year.

The Valley is situated near Truro and it had looked wonderful from the website I was looking at when writing my post, but it was even better in the flesh. A gated site with over 40 houses ranging in size, boasting two swimming pools, a fitness suite, playground, restaurant and tennis and squash courts.  It is certainly well equipped, you can even have beauty therapies in your own cottage!

At reception we were given our house key and a buzzer to enable us to get through the main gates without bothering the staff.  The lovely lady at reception also gave us two big bags of leaflets for local days out, which was so useful.

We were in number 39, which was almost at the end of a a little road of houses. It was so quiet and peaceful and had a car parking space right outside, perfect when you have little ones.

Outside the front of the property was a little patio area with seating for four. Once inside we were thrilled to see the house was fabulous.  An open plan living, dining and kitchen area, with a large breakfast bar, dining room table, and two settees meant there was lots of space for the three of us.

The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher (better than at home!), microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine.  The downstairs bathroom was a great bonus too.  Three additional built in cupboards meant we could stash all of our bags out of site.

The Valley staff had kindly put a stair gate at the top of the stairs for us and upstairs revealed two bedrooms and another large walk in cupboard (which houses the boiler).  The mater suite was stunning, a gorgeous vaulted ceiling with beams and large floor to ceiling patio doors with its balcony rails.

There was a good sized en-suite with bath and shower, I was so happy to see this as often there is no bath and Baby hates showering.  The other room had two single beds, a built in wardrobe and again an en-suite (with bath and shower).

The onsite restaurant was lovely and on the first night we enjoyed a lovely meal in there. The staff were really friendly and the food was yummy, I had lamb casserole and Mr Hubby had chorizo and bean cassoulet.

There are both outdoor and indoor swimming pools. We swam every day indoors and only had to share the pool once, the other days it was just the three of us, which was so lovely.  The changing rooms were freezing though!  Although I didn’t get chance to try it out there was also a jacuzzi next to the pool.  Baby adored the little playground next to the swimming pools and did the fireman’s pole on her own for the first time ever!

Handily a couple of local takeaways were happy to deliver on site, which helped on the evenings that Baby had crashed and Mummy and Daddy still needed to eat! At reception you can pick up the menus for the restaurants that deliver, which is ideal.

As a blogger, and one that was still having to work whilst being on holiday, a good internet connection is vital. The Valley had free wifi, which most of the time was passable, except for a couple of times when things ground to a halt. I did have the option to go and work at the restaurant though where the signal was stronger.

Each night the staff drop a little slip of paper through your letter box sharing a suggestion of something you can do the following day, which is such a lovely idea.

We had such a lovely stay at The Valley, the accommodation was high quality and the setting was very peaceful.  I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.  Thanks for having us!
