Yesterday I posted a overview of Camp Bestival for those of you who might be tempted to take your family next year (tickets on sale now!), and today I wanted to share more about our personal experience, in particular what Baby got up to.
Now that she’s three we knew she would be able to embrace much more of what this awesome festival has to offer, although she loved it last year, we all know what difference a year makes with our kids.
When we arrived she helped me try to secure the tent, while her daddy went back to the car to get all of our stuff. I can’t say this part of the trip was plain sailing, but she really enjoyed hammering in the tent pegs! So here were Baby’s favourite things from Camp Bestival 2016.
Art Town
Baby loves making things and so was in her element in Art Town. A huge marquee packed with tables offering a different craft on each one. On her first visit she made a beautiful wand, and on the following days she made a necklace, did some painting, was involved in a glitter project and made a Clanger.
Face Painting
Each morning our first stop was to get Baby’s face painted. We went to the main tent but it was offered at some of the smaller tents too. Each day she was transformed by a different lady, all were super talented and it cost £5 each time. I even got myself done a couple of times!
World’s largest bouncy castle
The queue for this was so long, we queued for around an hour. It was £3.50 for ten minutes, but unfortunately for Baby there were lots of bigger kids on it too and they kept knocking her down, so she came off before her time was up.
Fairground rides
Baby adored the carousel last year and this year it was a daily occurrence for us. £2.50 each and she totally adored it; I loved it too so it was money well spent. Baby was so confident, her feet didn’t reach the pedals, but she stuck like glue with a huge smile on her face.
Farm animals
This was Baby’s favourite part of the festival. She adored holding the chicks and we visited the farm each day. They had different handling sessions though out the day, but seemed to always have the chick handling on too.
50 things meadow
We didn’t visit this area at all last year, but loved it this year. There was tree climbing (with proper climbing equipment), various things to make and little groups doing things like rolling down the hill races, and learning to make grass trumpets!
Playground
The playground in Dingly Dell offers respite from the sun and noise of the main festival. The giant slide is always popular. Never one to pass up an opportunity to play on the playground, we took Baby there everyday.
Bigtop Mania
This is such a cool area beside the Feast Collective behind the castle. They had various events and performances within the tent itself and on the grass area outside they had a huge selection of circus equipment for the kids, stilts, ribbons, inflatables, slack lines to balance on and even a small inflatable area complete with a smaller bouncy castle, which helped Baby get over the disappointment of the large one.

This year I didn’t watch a single band, I just adored being with her while she soaked up every new experience and enjoyed everything to the max. I would totally advise anyone with kids to go to Camp Bestival, you really won’t regret it. I am going to be sharing some of my captured moments tomorrow.
