Last Friday we were so lucky and woke up to glorious weather. Baby had Toddler Sense in her diary in the morning, but we had a free afternoon. We decided to make the most of the weather and eat our lunch outside. We don’t normally do this, but I took her playpen outside (so we could keep the dogs at a distance) and we both snuggled up, to eat our lunch under the shade of our big parasol. I decided to set up her sand and water table for the first time. I showed her how it all worked and then she was off! She was less keen on the sand and wanted it to be washed off her hands, but the water section she loved. She played for ages, with the biggest smile on her face. Splashing and getting thoroughly soaked.
It was so lovely to see how happy she was, as she has had issues with water in the past. When she was finished, she was drenched and a bit grubby. Regular readers will know that Baby gets very stressed, if we try to bath her (she has to shower with me), but I thought I would give it another go. She started to winge a little bit, as the bath was filling and I was getting her ready. I stood her in the water, the cries didn’t happen and the winging stopped. After a few minutes, I helped her sit down and she sat there is the water happily playing with her toys, being washed, without crying! For the first time EVER I bathed my baby without her becoming hysterical. I cannot tell you how delighted I was.
To most people this would not be a big deal, but it has been stressful for us trying to resolve this issue and very stressful for Baby. I am so happy that she was confident and happy. When I picked her up, she even pointed to go back in! Long may it continue.

arh, we have the same sandpit, half price in Tesco last weekend! Funnily enough i always hated sand pits, even when I got older, the feeling of sand was never my favourite and as I got older and went to school, the sand was always so dirty….i still don’t like sand pits! lol. I fill Thomas’ up with water both sides- double the splashing!! I’m glad baby started liking water more….you won’t be able to get her out of the bath without a tantrum soon haha xx #magicmoments
