There is something about train journeys that is so exciting for children (and maybe still a little bit for me too). I remember when Baby first went on a train and she stood on the seat with her nose pressed against the window watching the world rush by, in awe.
Since then she has had many trips, mainly to London for Blogger events and the appeal hasn’t dampened for her at all. When I think back to all our train journeys, the memories of all the adventures we have had come flooding back. In Cornwall, we rode the Looe Valley line through gorgeous scenery; we travelled through the grounds of Longleat on their miniature railway, while taking in all the beautiful sights. We have been on large trains and small trains, high-speed ones and gentle ones. The wonder of the experience is still the same for Baby.
Last weekend we had an event in London and this meant catching a train. We got our train tickets from the TransPennine Express and we also printed off some free travel games to take with us. Baby does usually travel really well, but it always pays to be prepared with a toddler.
As we waited at the station Baby could hardly contain herself and each time a train arrived she would ready herself, only to be told it wasn’t our train. Eventually it was our train, much to Baby’s delight and she couldn’t wait to get going.
We have never used travel games before, thinking Baby was probably a little too young yet, but we were wrong. While a couple of the ones we printed kept Mr Hubby occupied, Baby set to work on the others! She loved trying to spot all of the objects out of the window and marking them off; she thought it was the best thing ever. Especially as one of the objects to find was a sheep, her favourite!
It was so lovely to watch Mr Hubby and Baby playing together, interrupted every so often by Baby excitedly seeing something out of the window that was on her list. She was even able to cross things off herself.
We got most of our things ticked off before we arrived at Paddington, for the next leg of our journey. Travelling to London with Baby once filled me with dread, but we have done it so many times that we are becoming old hands, and it is even better when Mr Hubby is with us too.
Our journey may have only been an hour, but it was such lovely family time and a great start to our family day out.

Thats good advices as journeys can get really boring
We went on the train yesterday and there were a lot of “are we there yets!” Doesn’t help that I feel sick on them. Looks like those games kept you entertained #magicmoments

It’s great that travelling with Baby’s become easier for you, my second eldest did work experience in Plymouth last week and has his first experience of public transport by himself, he did very well considering.
