A couple of weekends ago we were invited to a blogging event at CBeebies Land at Alton Towers. It was an early start for us, with over 200 miles to travel. We didn’t have the best start, as I picked up the wrong keys, shut the front door and realised that we didn’t have car keys or house keys. So after Mr Hubby broke into our house to get the keys, we set off!
The event was organised to promote CBeebies Magazine Kids Go Free campaign.
CBeebies Magazine and Merlin Entertainments have teamed up to launch this campaign, which enables parents to save up to £355 on kids’ venues during the summer. Each issue of CBeebies Magazine from the 16th July until the 7th October, will include two vouchers for kids to go free to a different attraction. The attractions include Legoland, Chessington World of Adventures and Sealife Centre.
The event took place in the Alton Towers hotel and consisted of various fun activities for the kiddies, story time, crafting, drawing and physical games. Baby was a little bit too young to join in, but she did enjoy collecting pens & pencils and running round the room…. constantly! There was even a surprise visitor, Postman Pat! We were given a lovely goodie bag and let loose into the main park.
After a spot of lunch, we headed to CBeebies Land, which is right near the entrance. First stop was the In The Night Garden ride. We all love ITNG in our house and so we knew this was a must. Mr Hubby took Baby on and I wish I had joined them now. Baby sat mesmerised watching her favourite characters and probably wondering how they got out of the TV!
Baby wanted to explore and had a lovely time running about. Then we went into the Big Fun Showtime area, which is a fabulous space complete with astro turf, deckchairs, a big top and lots of medieval games. There was also the opportunity to meet Igglepiggle or Upsy Daisy. We joined a small queue to meet Igglepiggle and once inside (with the giant Igglepiggle) Baby looked completely horrified and started crying. She really didn’t want her picture to be taken with him, clinging onto me with all her mite and so we bid a hasty retreat.
It wasn’t long before we had to head off. With such a long journey home, we couldn’t leave it too late. Once home we watched ITNG and Baby squealed with glee and pointed to the TV, every time one of the characters came on the screen! Bless her! I think she was happier that they weren’t 6ft tall.

I’ll have to look out for those vouchers as my son would love to go to one of those attractions. Thankfully they are a lot closer to me than Alton Towers was for you!

How cool! I just realised it wouldn’t be hard to recreate a lifesize version of The Night Garden, I mean, the trees take care of themselves don’t they? I think like Baby, I’d be a little wary of coming face-to-face with the characters – but I’d LOVE a nose around… maybe peer in the window at the Pontypines…

What a fab idea by Cbeebies mag…..we have merlin passes and are looking forward to visiting in September, although its the lute of the roller coasters for me I have no doubt we will spend most of our time in Cbeebiesland
Aw this looks lovely…My youngest loves ITNG so I’d absolutely love to take him here, although he’d probably be scared to meet Igglepiggle in real life!!
We have a ITNG fanatic in our house too! Though the reaction to a giant UpsyDAisy will probably be the same 🙂
