5 Things; I Will Teach Our Daughter

Welcome back to my new series, ‘5 Things’, which I hope will be a nice easy Sunday read.  This week I am sharing

5 things

I will teach our daughter

I hope that I will teach Baby many things in her life, but I wanted to share five important things with you, that are important for me to teach her.

  • That she is beautiful, both inside and out.  I want her to know that kindness is such a great strength and that it can make you even more beautiful.  She has such a loving nature and I want to nurture this and make sure she never loses her generous spirit.

5 Things

  • That if she works hard she can achieve anything.  I have always been a hard worker, but when I was younger I have no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.  As a consequence I have drifted from job to job, never really finding my ‘dream job’.  I will support her to find a career that will make her happy.  I want to make sure she is fulfilled and feels she is doing the job that she is meant to be doing.
  • To have confidence.  Confidence is such a powerful thing, it opens doors, it can make you happy, it can positively affect every aspect of your life.  A lack of confidence can be crippling and I never want her to experience that.
  • Be sensible with money.  Save a little where you can.  I wasn’t raised with any saving ethic and now having considerable debt, I know how limiting this is.  I want her to be able to make decisions in her life without being held back by debt.
  • I will love her unconditionally for every minute of her life.  This will never change.  She is my light.  She can tell me anything and I will always support her.  Forever.

What do you want to teach your children?

  1. I love this Aby! With 3 girls myself, I think all those lessons are so vital! Nothing gets in the way of a confident, hard working, loved woman who sees her inner and outer beauty. Great work as always. Especially about being sensible with money, me and my mum are impulse buyers, trying hard to stop the cycle 🙂

  2. Oh honey those are such beautiful things to teach your gorgeous daughter and its something she’ll be grateful you took the time to teach her!xx

  3. These are very good things to teach your little one. I am especially keen to make sure Elsa never struggles the way I have with money. I have very little and no savings at all and it can be such a struggle sometimes. It also means we don’t get to go out and about much. I hope that she can learn to manage her money from an early age because it is such an important skill to have. Great thoughts here!

  4. What a very moving and special post! She is one lucky lady to have a Mummy like you. She will grow up just fine, knowing you are there for her. I love this. Thanks for sharing on #sundaystars Jess x

  5. This is a brilliant post honey. I agree with all of these and I definitely hope to pass these lessons on to Little Miss H. I will definitely be trying to teach Little Miss H that she shouldn’t look to other people to make her feel good. She needs to find her happiness and self-worth from herself. Hugs Mrs H xxxx

  6. These are great lessons! I would add the ability to fail forward + teaching her to know she can be anything she wants to.
