Our family have so many clothes that are no longer worn. Some Baby has outgrown, others are too small for me now following pregnancy weight gain; while others have just been relegated to the back of our wardrobes following new purchases. Donating them has always been on my to do list, but sadly it had never quite made it to the top. That was until I heard about the TK Maxx ‘Give Up Clothes For Good’ campaign.
TK Maxx annual charity campaign, is in association with Cancer Research Kids and Teens. The campaign focuses on encouraging people to take used clothes to their local TK Maxx store and donate them to help others. Since 2004 this campaign has raised an amazing £19.7 million pounds for Cancer Research UK.
You can use any bag to donate clothing, accessories and also quality homeware. Simply bag it up and drop it off. Every item donated is then sold in Cancer Research UK shops to help save lives. In the 1960’s only 1 in 4 children survived cancer, now thanks to the amazing research, 3 in 4 children are cured.
If every UK household donated a bag of clothes, we could save 25m bags from landfill and raise £740m to help beat childhood cancer. One single bag could be worth £30. How amazing is that?
I collected together some of our old clothes and bagged them up. Most of these are mine and Baby’s clothes, I will have to attack Mr hubby’s wardrobe another day (the campaign is open all year so I have time). Then Baby and I popped to TK Maxx to drop them off. I never need an excuse to shop there, and I never come out empty handed….
Such a simple act, that also helps you declutter your wardrobe and for such an amazing cause. Do you have anything you could donate?

What a lovely idea! It makes you feel better to clear out the clutter and even better when you can help out a good cause too.
I always see this campaign in TK Maxx stores and never fail to be impressed by how full the collection points always are! Still haven’t gotten around to bringing any of my own clothes there yet though x
Fab cause x
What a wonderful cause to support T Maxx you have done yourselves proud. I think that it is fantastic that you have given your clothes away to help someone who needs it more! Good on you x
I love cleaning out my closet. I recently updated my wardrobe & got rid of a lot of clothes before I hung the new clothing up in the closet. This is a great campaign! x
That’s great, I recently forced the hubby to do the same as there was stuff he hadn’t worn since university day!
I’m really pleased to see TK Maxx supporting such a brilliant cause. I don’t think I ever leave their shop empty handed either! Xx
Great idea TK Max. I’m going to clear out today and get down there. I have clothes for a 1 year old here and my boy turns six in a few weeks…I’ll end up being featured on Britain’s Biggest Hoarders if I don’t sort it x

Ha ha! Yeah get yourself down there 🙂 x
I’ve just decluttered my wardrobe a few weeks ago, and got rid of 11 bags – 2 are working their way round work colleagues/friends, 2 went to textile recycling and the rest went to our local hospice charity shop. I think it’s great that so many high street stores are doing these charity collections. Many are also working with a sustainable clothes programme that my work do, to encourage reuse, recycling and building a closed loop to avoid waste. SO not only is recycling clothes in this way good for raising charity funds, but also it’s environmental. (The consumer campaign is Love Your Clothes).
This is a great idea – with four children we always have clothes to donate. I love TKMaxx too 😉 Kaz x
This is great – I’d never heard of the TK Maxx campaign before, but its a great idea. I’m in the middle of a major clear out, thanks to Marie Kondo’s book (!) so I’m sure I’ll put this info to good use 🙂
