Sodors Legend of The Lost Treasure Premiere

Last Sunday we were invited the Leicester Square Odeon for the Premiere of the new Thomas the Tank Engine movie.

When we eventually arrived, after a bit of a disastrous journey, the excitement was building outside; with a huge Thomas in pride of place on the special blue carpet.

Cinema

Baby was quite overwhelmed by her first ‘blue’ carpet experience and needed lots of mummy cuddles.

There was just chance for a quick snap with Thomas before heading upstairs in the Odeon to see what the Mattel team had in store for us.

The pre film party room was crammed full of food, face painting, toys, balloon animals, a photo booth and even a few celebrities!  As you can see, Baby was not too sure at all about the Pirate photographer!

We met up with my lovely friend Katy from What Katy Said and Little G, then it was time to take our seats in the screening room.

Each seat was stocked with water and popcorn, which was a great touch.  Baby didn’t eat a single piece, but liked to examine it anyway.

As the film started Baby was engrossed, having not been to the cinema since she was a few months old, it was such a new and exciting experience for her.  She managed about 30 minutes before she started getting a little restless, but each time returned to her seat to watch some more.  Considering she has never seen Thomas the Tank Engine before, she did quite well.  The film, not surprisingly given the name, featured one of Baby’s favourite things at the moment, treasure.  She spent a considerable amount of time telling Katy, her daddy and I that there was ‘treasure’.  I won’t give the plot away, just say that Thomas fans will not be disappointed.

Watching

After the film we headed out onto the balcony, where the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra had been playing pre film, to take some obligatory blogger shots and to watch the girls have a sword fight, as you do…

Kate and I

It was so lovely to spend time with Katy, she is such a good friend and our girls get along really well.

We were photobombed by a small person.

I had a smear on my camera lens, but I adore this picture of the girls having a blast.

It was quite surreal watching the girls play together, with their inflatable swords, while the busyness of London carried on below the glass balcony.

Balloons

Then it was time to head off and we walked downstairs to be met by a sky full of blue Thomas balloons, with such long tails that the kids could pick their balloons themselves. There were happy faces everywhere you looked through the sea of blue and red strings.

I would like to say thank you to the team at Mattel for inviting us to this premiere, we had such a great time.

Do you have any Thomas fans in your house?  Do you plan to see the film?

  2. What a wonderful experience! My kids are a bit old for Thomas, but I’m sure they’d still sit quite happily through this (they’re not as grown up as they think!)

  3. That looks amazing, so much fab detail! I love all your photos, you and Katy both look lovely! I will have to keep an eye out for the film as Oliver is a fan of Thomas.
