The Theme Game #6

It’s Theme Game time!  The time to be creative and possibly win a little prize too, courtesy of The Reading Residence and Red Peffer’s linky.  This week the theme is ‘Animals’.

I have always been an animal lover and animals have played a massive part in my life.  I hope they will be a big part of Baby’s life too.  I thought I would introduce some animals that have impacted most on me and have made my life immeasurably better.

Introducing Oz

Oz

Oz was my partner in crime for eight wonderful years.  We learned so much together and ended up competing at Prix St Georges level (Dressage).  Devastatingly Oz went chronically lame in 2010 and eventually had to be put to sleep in April 2012.  He left a massive hole in my life.

Oz

Next up is the lovely Lily.  I rescued Lily’s mum and then Lily was born unexpectedly.  She spent her first weeks down the front of my coat, as I walked the other dogs, so we have a very strong bond.

Lily and (Mummy) Lou Lou

The dog that started my rescuing habit was Archie.  Archie was found wandering the streets and was taken to the vet’s where I worked.  He was never claimed, so I was allowed to take him home.

Archie now lives in North Wales with my sister-in-law and is enjoying long walks on the beach and being the most important (only) dog.  He still comes to visit regularly and the girls love it when he comes to stay.

These four animals have made my life more fun, richer and I am so grateful to have been/be their owner.  Baby is lucky to live with two of these animals and as she grows up I’m sure she and Lily will be the best of friends.  I can’t imagine what my life would have been like without these special animals.

  2. Such lovely photos of them all – Oz really was stunning, they become such a part of everyday life that it’s so sad when they pass away. Grieving over animals isn’t talked about much but it’s a sadness that stays with us x

  3. I love the way you kept Lily down the front of your coat – it must have been so wonderful to snuggle together like that. And I’m really glad that Archie is living such a happy life now. I could do with those long walks on the beach too.

She spent so many hours down there 🙂 Archie loves it and loves to come and visit the girls. Sister-in-law always adored him and so I asked if she would like to have him. x

  4. A fellow animal lover – we would get on very well 🙂 All of them beautiful. So sad when they leave us, such pain but then you just carry on caring for more and your heart gets even bigger. I have two dogs, both rescues and my life is so much richer for them. Always had dogs, can’t be without them.

He is a fab little dog. We are not really set up for 3 dogs and when I rescued Lou Lou and she turned out to be pregnant, we were a little over run and I struggled to walk 3 pulling dogs with a bad back. Sister in law, always loved him, so it seemed fairer to let him go to her where he would get more walks and more attention x
