I am a day late with linking up with the lovely Jocelyn from The Reading Residence to share my Word of the Week #WotW, as I am hosting Mums’ List for Hannah over at Mums’ Days and that goes live on Friday’s.
This week my word is
Yesterday was my blogs first anniversary! Slightly surreal and I have a mix of feelings. It seems as if I have always had my blog, yet a year isn’t really such a long time, is it? So much has happened in the last year and I am so grateful that I have had my blog to document these events.
When I first started my blogging journey Baby was four and a half months old, I find it hard to remember her being this young. The contrast between her then and now is difficult for me to fathom. I spend all day, every day with Baby and so I can only imagine her as she is now. My blog has allowed me to capture her first tastes, learning to crawl, her first steps, learning to say her first words, watching her friendships develop, share her first Christmas, her first birthday. Many milestones and ordinary moments are documented here for us to re-read and enjoy in the future.
From the perspective of my blog, it started as an online Baby book of sorts, to just capture our memories. Then after Christmas, I went self hosted (blogger speak for changing to a paid for web hosting service!) and that is when things changed. I started to put a lot more time and effort into my blog, working with brands, going to events, promoting my blog and all the things that go with this. I have met other bloggers, some of which are now close friends. I have offered support and have in turn been supported by the fabulous blogging community. We have reviewed some wonderful products for lovely companies and have become official ambassadors for a fabulous brand. I have attended two blogging conferences, have risen to 220 in the Tots100 rankings and have even won a computer in a blogging competition!
I have learned LOTS in the past 12 months, I remember seeing a quote along the lines of, ‘if a blogger doesn’t know how to do something, they learn’; this is so true. We don’t have back up IT, design and legal teams, so we have to learn how ourselves! This is fun though, stretching you and expanding your skills.
So that’s a little recap of my first blogging year. I am so grateful for the welcome and support I have received from the blogging community and to all the non bloggers out there who read my blog, thank you all too.
I have put together a few posts which might be useful to bloggers, which will be posted next week, so look out for them.
Which word would sum up your week?
Enjoy my posts? Why not
Why not check out my previous words.

Happy blog birthday!! You’ve accomplished such a lot. I can’t imagine my blog being as year old. X
Congrats on your 1st year, I hope that in 7 months time I will have a similar post (that will be our blogivesary!!) to share. X
Congratulations on your blogiversary!! You have achieved so much in such a short time and may your blog continue to grow.
That quote about bloggers having to learn things is so right. I started self hosting my blog in March and knew absolutely nothing about blogging or how to tweak my blog. The fact that I felt I knew nothing nearly put me off self hosting and I am so glad it didn’t.
It’s been a learning curve that at times has made me sweat profusely, but I love it.
Popped over from #WotW.
Wow, you’ve only had your blog for one year? I can’t believe that! My blog turns one next week and it’s not nearly as successful as yours, and that with it being my second active blog (I had one from 2007 to 2011 and many unsuccessful attempts inbetween). I must say I’ve learned a lot more in my year of blogging at this address than I’ve learned over the years f blogging at y old address. Particulalry, I’m learning to reach a wider audience (my blog as you might know is somewhat specific in its theme in that it doesn’t fall within any establsihed niche). Anyway, congrats on your blogiversary! You’re an inspiration!
Congrats! It flies by so fast – and it’s goo to look back on the baby photos too!
Happy blog birthday 🙂
It’s scary how time goes by so quickly isn’t it? Congratulations on your blog’s 1st birthday.
Congratulations – I love looking back on my blog over the years. There’s so many memories and good times that I might have forgotten about otherwise x x

Happy Blogiversary. It is wonderful to look back on old posts and remember what times were like. I love looking back at how small my boys were and what we did together. Nothing could ever beat that feeling
Great word! Congrats, how it flies! I look back at photos of my Boo when she was just a few months old and can’t believe it to look at her now, about to start school! And yes, you learn so much in a year, don’t you?! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
